Hi Al, ta for posting the 500`s video link, I couldnt find the brochure earlier, Do we know Jason?? Is he on vacland etc??, great set of vids he has....

Hoover had at least 4 series of Sensotronics,
The first series, System 1,2,3,4,5, ( S3100 -
Then System 10,20,30,40,50 (Series 1 - S3322 - S3328),
Then System 10,20,30,40,50 ( Series 2 - S3452- S3456)
Then System 300,400,500 ( S3732 - S3730)

What do you all think of the Contour head in the 500 series??

Hi Markus, yes I see what you mean the Super Contour head is very different, never saw those over here, just the regular.... was it used on any other of your models??

no, only in Sensotronic 30.
It looks like the same than National Roboclean in 1981.

Similar to Dimension

Yep, this was similar to the U.S. - specification Dimension, but as has been pointed out, different tools and colors were used over here.

I had a Dimension, which was discarded after it blew its control board (that "electronic sensing feature" in the brochure), and I was quoted a cost-to-repair well over half the price of a new vacuum - with only a 30-day warranty on the repair.

Contour Plus suction head

Was absolutely bloody awful. A prime example of form over function.

I bought one to use with the Sensotronic System 2, and discovered that it had drawbacks.

The inlet mouth was reduced to a long narrow slot, so larger debris (sweets papers, etc.) got trapped rather than rushing straight up the tube.

The litter picker (there was only one, I think) was still too small. I always thought it should have been the full width of the nozzle.

The Hoover Aquamaster's combination head (identical to the Vax head), was a much more usable bit of kit. The twin litter-pickers (on plastic substrate) could be readily replaced. And it did the job in half the time.

Contour

I never thought it was dire, just clunky, but then again have always used these cleaners with the power head or small nozzles....now imagine a power head on the Hoover vari speed wet & dry, that would make a great combination cleaner!!

Markus, I take it you had the same round disc air freshners to slot in the sensotronic bag compartment, and what scents did you have??

I think we had only this green scent. It smells like a fairy washing up liquid. I haven´t ever seen sold these separately.
