Favourite Vintage Vacuum Cleaner Slogans

That is quite possibly because the range is over 40 years old and people were already replacing them after less than 10 years service. Not that I don't agree that they were good, but some 20 years ago scrap 500 cleaners were ten a penny. They were quite desirable as they were easy to refurbish and sell on.

OK, OK perhaps you are right, but they were made very well.

Sorry, I didn't mean to do that. Yes, they were incredibly well made, especially for a cleaner made almost entirely of plastic. They were not without their issues and it wasn't until the very end of the 550/560/502s run that all the major grumbles had been ironed out. And in fact even then it wasn't untill production of the Twin Turbo was long under way that Electrolux changed the hinges on the bag door/handle so that they were now part of the lower cord hook / carry handle and not an intergral part of the dust bag unit.

As for slogans, the 600 series hit the bill-boards with The Vac With The Tools On The Back.

I imagine an ad agency would say the best is one you remember that gets the point across quickly and easily.HOOVER The best of all time may be "It beats,as it sweeps,as it cleans"from about 1919.In the 30s they added "it lights" in front of IBAISAIC.WESTINGHOUSE "Every House Needs Westinghouse" is one of the greats when they had something for every room.LEWYT "Do it with a Lewyt"was known to almost every 50s housewife both explaining the pronunciation and the way to clean house.Before this the slogan was "Let Lewyt do it" for the businessman who needed a factory to manufacture his product.This is why Filter Queen came to Lewyt after WW2 but that is another story.ELECTROLUX "Touch no Dirt!Breathe no Dirt!See no Dirt!"was the perfect description for the 4ply self sealing filter bags.This would have been meaningless with the Electro-Regina-Lux and the LittleLux hand vacs with cloth bags.
