Favourite Power Nozzle or brush roll?

What's your favourite PN or brush roll? I normally like the Electrolux omni-flo, PN5, style nozzles. I think the brush roll is an excellent design, and the fact that even though its L-shaped the suction is constant across the unit. And it has really good edge cleaning.

However, that being said, I managed to find a Eureka Roto-Maric with a VG2 at the thrift store the other day. Albeit in VERY poor condition, after I cleaned it up I used it. I love the sound of it, and the VG2 works really well even on berber carpet, Power View is a weird but unique feature. It is really heavy however, and cumbersome handling. But I still love it and the sound it makes and how well it cleans!

My favourite PN out of the, erm, Three I have used (Eureka Rotomatic, as above but in blue, Tristar CXL 2-1000 (black base) and a miele something or other), it has to be the Tristar PN...

The Eureka PN worked great too, even when attached to my Electrolux Z1185e, but it ended up splitting down the middle for whatever reason, and no amount of glue would hold it together, so, it's now sat doing nothing, without motor or brushroll.

The miele one, came with an S147 "stick" vac, well, let's not go there..... :S

I like my Lux PN4A, cleans well, noisy, but I think they all are? Nice brush. The Miele is the smaller one, seals well to the floor or carpet, not great on thick carpet, but perfect on others.

I like my Sebo ET-1 and Miele 232, (wesselverk). My royal power tank's power nozzle is very good too, (I think it's made by Hayden).

imho

the cheap douglas nozzle used on airway and others really is good. vents on front keep it from sticking to the floor even with full power, chevron brush roll does a great job, downside is no swivel neck, and the low end version does not have on/off switch.

Lux and Kenmore

I really like the Electrolux PN-1s. I think they're nice to look at.

My aunt had a Kenmore Power Mate vacuum from 1974 when I was a kid. I really liked the power nozzle on that vacuum. I liked the fact that it had a headlight and it just had a nice sound. I also enjoyed the avocado green color and the fake woodgrain on it.

power nozzles....but, if im going to use one a pn1 or pn2 is as good as you get as far as im concerened.

Im fond of

The Kenmore PN made by Haden and the ones made by WP Like Brian mentioned, but of corse Blue would be my favorit color then avacado .
I do like the Eureka VG2, and the Hoover Quadraflex with the wide headlight even though I know Hoover's first PN worked better with the steel brushroll. In blue too of corse.

I like

the Hayden used by Panasonic/Kenmore and the older Eurka Roto-mattics. I really dislike my PN on my Tri-Star MG1 by Electrolux. I like the old school one's better.

I dunno about performance, since I - like Hans - am not a big fan of power nozzles. But I think this is the coolest-looking one I've ever seen.

I agree Charles, a beautiful sculptured thing and from the inside with the two swooping side ducts that join at the back, around the centered motor, very efficient.

I wish Lewyt had been able to continue development of their 1957 'Electronic' Big Wheel Motorized Beater Sweeper.
The brushroll is driven entirely by gears pressed against the side wall - eliminates a belt and provides full width sweeping.

The first version that came with Model 107 used a 120 VAC motor - a hose-length power cord ran up the outside of the wand, clamped to the hose - like the early Electrolux PNs - and plugged in just above the Big Wheel switch.

Then unfortunately, they developed that flawed electric hose that tapped low voltage off the motor. Too bad, in hindsight they shoulda stuck with the tried and true and worked out the electric hose bugs.
The 1958 Model 111 and 1960 121 used that doomed hose connection coupler design and the brushroll motor was low voltage that didn't have quite the same torque as 120 AC.

I have the first version with the original power cord - it has a regular two blade plug for wall or vacuum - and I really like the lowdown in front of the brushroll illumination.

Geared PN, now there is something smart. Why don't more manufacturers do it? I hard Hayden had some geared PNs. It wouldn't be a problem for jams, all they would need would be a reset switch/breaker. No belts!

On another note, that Lewyt PN is gorgeous, and so smart. I love the shape, and the fact the headlight is low to the floor.

My favourite power nozzle looks like it was inspired by the Lewyt: the Eureka Express nozzle with Vibra Groomer III....so elegant and simple in design.

The same clip-poster has a really neat Sanitaire commercial "Sweet Sixteen" vac with Express Power Nozzle - the light on this one is not burnt out!

i LOVE that sanitaire ive never seen a roto-matic type sanitaire canister. Now i really want one ill have to be on the lookout. and what ever happened to those sanitaire canisters with the tool kit on the side. i cant remember what theyre called i remember thinking they were soooo cool when i was little. it came in light grey and some other color...

My favorites are the Hayden PN that was used on Kenmore, and I have one on my Vita-Vac by Air Way. I also love the Hoover Quadraflex Powermatic

I don't have any power-nozzle canisters, but I had an Electrolux Genesis(1994), which from my understanding uses the same power-nozzle as the canisters, but in upright from. I DID NOT like that thing at all. It cleaned so terribly, I can't believe they sell commercial versions of them. Great air-flow, but not a good carpet cleaner

So, in terms of uprights, I like Hoover Elite/Windtunnel brush rolls. They pick up pet hair and vibrate the carpet. Otherwise I like Vibra-Groomer IIs.
