My Rainbow D4!!!

From the late 80's, with a newer SE hose and powerhead. The only vacuum that I can clean everything with, and not have to worry about having a dirty vacuum at the end. The new brushroll I purchased for the powerhead rivals my Fantom Thunder's in performance.

Thank you Gary, My neighbor had this machine when I was a young kid; started hunting for it in 1975. Found my first one, in Spring of 1998. Thanks to my good friend Han's. I have since acquired three DC-7 machines. Many of my good friends from the various vacuum clubs have been instrumental in finding this rare machine and ALL the attachments. I even have 1 orginal hose that was gifted to me by my good friend Marc T.

I've been truly bessed, by the good people (collectors) that enjoy helping other collectors!!

That is a gorgeous Westinghouse, wonderful color considering it's time, very elegant! I still look around for a Westinghouse, a brand that has eluded me all these years. I've often wondered why they don't pop up more often. Any insight to that fact anybody?

1957 Lewyt

I loved my mom's 1957 Lewyt. It was a wonderful artifact of its time. The motor housing was pink and the canister was charcoal gray. After I saw Star Wars for the first time, I remember vacuuming the house with it and pulling it along by its hose, going "come along R2". We used that thing until the hose absolutely fell apart. I guess they got rid of it when they moved about 20 years ago.

for me

it has to be this its 18 months older than me and has been in everyday use since it was bought .so my memory of this machine is vast i can remember climbing onto the sideboard to escape from the big brown monster that could easily gobble me up if it wanted to [that idea probably comes from watching Tom and Gerry where a very similar looking machine could quite easily devour the contents of a room while its bag gets bigger and bigger before eventually bursting] .later i would always be concious of it lurking in the pantry or on guard at the bottom of the stairs. Then in the early 60s along came fitted carpets they were everywhere so the old Hoover certainly worked overtime but it now had a companion a grey Connie bought for the stairs and the newly aquired Ford Zodiac .The 40s and 50s furniture gradually disapeared and was replaced with new stuff on spindly legs G Plan comes to mind but all the while theres the Hoover 612 keeping an eye on me and the Connie and the years go by were well into the 70s and the whole house seems to morph again teak furniture draylon upholstery vivid walpaper oh yes and a new Ford granada. Another Hoover product in the house [the Hoovermatic twintub washer] finally dies after giving 18 years of service and is replaced with a new hoover automatic machine mum hated it at first but soon realized how much time it saved her and all the while theres the Hoover still keeping the house clean and still living in the pantry although i did come home from school one day to find it in the bathroom [god knows what it was doing in there the only room without carpet. Its 1978 now and i am newly married money is tight we are round at mums one sunday for lunch when she suddenly anounces dad bought me a new Hoover would you like my old one i imediatly said yes and we took it home with us .My wife has long gone but my old nemisis is still hear with me .Last year i gave it a complete refurb as you can see in the photo shes looking good [a dam sight better than me ]

Quite a few of the vacs in my collection are older than me, and I enjoy running all of them! It's hard to pick a favorite! I love running my coffee can Hoovers, late 40's & early 50's Royals, straight suction Electro-Hygienes, Hoover 82 Constellation (that my Grandpa bought for my Grandma for their anniversary about 15 months before I was born), Lux XII and XXX, AirWay 55A, and many more. I could post pics of any of these, but thought you would like to see me actually running one, so here's a pic of me running my Hoover 28, with my 82 Constellation nearby.
