Fair price for an Electrolux EPIC 6500 SR?

Hi all!

I'm looking at picking up an EPIC 6500SR from CL. It has all the attachments, including the mini PN, and 5 bags. Everything looks to be in pretty good shape from the pics but I haven't seen it yet or heard it run. The seller is asking $120 for the machine. Is that a fair price if the machine is pretty clean and sounds good? It is one of the all grey models, which was supposedly produced in the late 90s to early 2000s.

Any recommendations on pricing, pitfalls, things to check on the machine before purchasing, or "better" Lux models I should consider are welcomed. This won't be my primary machine, I'm just looking to add a Lux to my collection. My Grandma had one when I was young. Generally, the newer the better is my preference, but I'm not interested in dropping the money it would take to get to get a newer/current Guardian model.

Personally that pricing seems pretty high. You might negotiate some since it Craigslist. I've seen these machines as low as $25 for sale in good working order.
That being said 1$20 is probably about a 1/10 of what they paid for it. I would definitely run it for a few minutes and see if any of the lights come on the vacuum control knob often goes bad over time .

$120 sounds like what it would go for in a used vacuum shop AFTER it was thoroughly gone over and reconditioned.

One identical to what you describe just sold on eBay for $88, and another one in a different color went for $175.

Pricing

The two eBay vacs were in good condition. I don't get how one goes for $100 more.
It may have something to do with pics. It could also be the sellers reputation. Idk but I've noticed that trend on most vacuums.
I'd go test the vacuum and talk to seller. If you let them know you are a collector and the price is steep. I'd say your vacuum is worth $50-$60. I'd love to buy this vacuum. I'd then say im thinking $50 and it's fair for both of us. There going to counter with either $60 or $75. Come up to $55 and say that's the most I can pay and it's all I brought.
They will either tell you okay thanks for coming by. If you show up with money they have a buyer in front of them. If you followed that strategy you will get the vacuum. When selling you get so many non buyers or people who bug you. A buyer with money is what they need.

Price is about right

I can tell you that 100 bucks for it is fair if it works well. The two on eBay that were used to compare yours to one was broken, and the other was a newer model 6500. If a vac shop is doing a complete recondition the proper way they are going to sell it for more than 100 bucks. There is a knob on top of the machine that adjusts pressure to tell you when the bag is full. Usually the plastic seal breaks in them. It's a cheap and easy fix. How you can tell if it is broken when you test it is just put your hand over the intake and it will turn off quick. Restart the machine and do it again if it does the same thing it's that valve. A few other things to look.for.are the cord and plug end, and the locks for the wands those usually break easily .

I appreciate the feedback! The seller is a bit of a drive from me, so I'm still searching... if I go see it I'm likely to bring it home. It looks like the seller is a collector; they have 4 or 5 machines currently for sale on CL.

@gabowenjr - I'll be sure to check wands and plugs, and the pressure dial if I end up looking at a model with one.

I saw a Lux Guardian Platinum in mostly good shape for $350 on FBMP (the bottom plate of the PN should be replaced, but nothing else major I could see)... I'm inclined to go for that style machine if I can get into one around that price. I figured they'd be considerably more than that.

Any concerns getting parts for either older LUX or newer Aerus machines?
