I have a F/Q Model 700 and it runs well and sounds strong when it is runing. When I turn the vac off, the motor makes a grrinding sound in the last 3 to 5 seconds of it winding down. Is that a worn motor bearing or worn brushes? or??

Bearings worn

I never had any luck with lamb motor bearing replacement, they sound just as bad with the new bearings.I recommend installing a new motor and your machine will be like new again.Lamb make the replacement motor which is not to expensive.

Actually, I've had great luck replacing the bearings. You just have to make sure to use high quality bearings made for the speed, and to put everything back together in the right order. I never reuse brushes and I wouldn't advise doing so unless they are made from unobtainium.
