Hello. I am writing this to hear some stories about early Dirt Devils. Late 90's and early 2000s vacuums are very nostalgic for me, especially dirt devils. I have a 2001 featherlite plus but I would like to expand on that. I put pictures of the Dirt Devils I am looking for, and I would like to hear your stories on them, and yes I know a lot of them weren't that good, but I still want them though.

I recall...

Being about 3 years old when we had the Featherlite Vision in that picture. I never really payed attention to how well it performed but I remember we had it for a long time.

the 90s and early 2000 machines were not bad at all. I have a lite plus that is from about 1995 and to be honest for a 5 amp motor it has decent quality to it. The cleaning performance is also again pretty darn good. We had family members with the swivel guide and that too was a good performer , I have had a couple here and there and liked the performance that they had. The hard cover dirt devil machines were like the lite and lite plus from the mid 90s and were a decent quality machine but sometimes the bag latches would have issues and if the bags weren't of good quality dust would blow out. Now for the featherlite vision. They were an awesome performer, light, powerful and easy to use. We had it for years and even when it was tossed it still ran very well just from age it started to need some parts such as a new bottom plate which was NLA, a brushroll and filter both pleated container and hepa filter. As far as the vision itself goes, it was a heavy machine, I didn't find the power at the hose to be great actually I thought the light weight vision had more power, and I found it awkward and bulky to push and pull. So to top it all off dirt devil products weren't a bad product but then again people have their ups and downs with opinions. I have owned many of dirt devil products, lite, lite plus, hand vac, broom vac, room mate, MVP Classic, swivel guide, vision, feather light vision, hand vac ultra and not to mention the platinum vision and there was one that was metal and plastic that I had but I don't remember what it was called. All seemed to be of good quality! :)

I've had a few of these Dirt Devils over the years.

Swivel Glides, Vision uprights, a Vision canister, a Plus, an MVP, an Ultra MVP, the original Featherlite, a Sensation, hand vacs, stick vacs. I was never that fond of Dirt Devils but I did like the Ultra MVP I used to have. The original Featherlite bagless was a decent cleaner too. Better than the larger Vision model in my opinion. The original Visions and Swivel Glides were poorly designed. They always tipped over. Most of the ones I've found have broken handles and handles releases.

I own 3 Featherlites and a Swivel Glide Vision. They are really not bad machines but Hoover and Eureka made better vacuums than Dirt Devil over the years. I thought the very best Dirt Devils were the early 90's models.

The only Dirt Devil we've owned was a red hand vac from the early '90s with a shake-out bag. We used it for the stairs at my dad's house. Having a brush roll made it work far better than using the shop vac on the stairs. We had a Hoover Convertible for the wall-to-wall carpeting.

I've rescued a couple of Dirt Devils from beside the dumpster at the apartment where I used to live--the same dumpster that later yielded my first Kirby Gsix. The two most memorable were a green MVP with swivel casters, which I used for a couple of years and then sold for twice what it had cost me to fix it and a baby blue Featherlight that I ended up donating to my church. They've been using it to vacuum the chancel area once a week for almost four years now.

Dirt Devils

I love dort devils, their one of my favorite brands. The ones i own currently are the vision, swivel glude, featherlite bagless(new), MVP, Deluxe, Power Lite, Lite plus, featherlite with stretch hose, hand vac, hand vac 500, platinum series hand vac, dirt devil Dynamite, and another swivel glide. I used to have a early 2000's featherlite bagless, and a featherlite bagged, multiple swivel glides, and more. The ones i want to get are the Ultra MVP, Power Pak, and the Plus. There's a plus in my area, but it'/s justtt out of reach. About an hours drive. I'll show the plus down below.
