you only paid £1.50 for that Kirby hose - that's a very good bargain - I paid a Kirby dealer near me £20 for a used one for my Heritage. Although I think that hose is for later models as the original Kirby Heritage hose would have had metal cuff rather than plastic ones. Perhaps the American members could clarify which Kirby this hose with the plastic cuff would have been originally for - I reckon it could have been the Heritage 2 Legend?

Will you use it on your Kirby then? Kirbys are very good - much better than Dysons!

Hi

Great finds Mr G. Yep the Kirby hose you have bought is for a Kirby Heritage II Legend. The Heritage hose is grey with a metal end. The earlier Heritage II had a black hose with metal end.

Still at least it will fit your Kirby Heritage. You just need the rest of the attachments for it

I know the suction through the hose on the Heritage aint up to Dyson standards, but it still turns the 32mm Vax turbo tool sufficiently enough to get a good result. No dirty fan model has the same hose suction power that a clean fan machine has. The Kirby Heritage in my opinion is one of the best Kirbys ever made, and I love using mine - she's a lovely old lady for 32 years old

The Masterlux was, IMHO, one of the better 3 in 1 cleaners of its time. The pump operates on a pressostat, so you only need to push down and hold the blue button until the pump is primed, after which it turns on and off automatically as you operate the trigger on the handle. I also like the filter setup, which can be used with or without bags.

Mine is tucked away in the garage at the moment, awaiting repair when I get round to it. Sadly the plastic junction which the pump and pressostat connect to has broken, and is of course obsolete. I plan to retrofit a Numatic George pump and connections, which should easily get it back to full working order.

Good score on the Kirby hose by the way. It looks to be barely used, and brand new ones are about the £50 mark. Those floor nozzles are obsolete now as well, but much better than those provided with the later G series.

The Masterlux was a far superior carpet cleaner to the Vax; unfortunately for Electrolux, Vax had spent a good deal of money on advertising, they had got there first, and their cleaner was a much more bold, vivid colour, unlike the pale shades of the Masterlux, which arguably didn't look anything exciting.

Vax cleaners were also cheaper to buy, were slightly less bulky, and even just by sight consumers could see they were much better as a vacuum cleaner as the tool kit looked that little bit more sophisticated too. To compete, Electrolux needed to sell a cheaper cleaner - it was really that simple.
