Eureka Victory Series

So, online vacuum hunting today brought me to thinking about the old Eureka Victory upright vacuums, especially the bagged models. I've never used one, but I see no reason why they would be a bad cleaner. Their clean air (I think), bagged, lower amps (not all are 12 amps), the unique back saver handle, and they came in various styles. I think they are a nicer looking and simpler cleaner than many current Eureka models. As with most cleaners of this era, they're getting harder to find.

My favorites would be the Powerline Limited Edition, World Vac, and the Enviro Vac. I think they were also available as The Boss, Smart Vac, and Whirlwind Bagless varieties. In addition to those differences, some had narrow nozzles.

So, for those that have used them, any thoughts? For current owners, please post some pictures. I'll start with this craigslist image so people know what I'm talking about.

I saw a Whirlwind bagless at the goodwill about 2 weeks ago. It was $30, and I thought that was WAY overpriced, so I didn't get it. I too like the way those vacuums looks. They look like a good deep cleaner to me.

Not so much

The suction is very good IMHO at the hose end, but didnt deep clean very well, I think because the nozzle was light or b/c the nozzle inlet was on the narrow side and did not provide good airflow. However I had a few and they seemed to scatter debris from the end near the belt resulting in multiple passes. The reglar size wasn't so bad but the wide trak like above was worse at scattering dirt even on carpet. I do like the desighn concept tho.

these actually do a pretty good job of cleaning
yes the nozzle is a little light weight but for what they are I love them. this was a childhood machine that was great. however about the bagless whirlwinds they are the same cleaner and can be converted for bag use with the removal of the bagless chamber and seperator. in order to do this you will need the hard cover from a bagged victory, powerline, world vac etc... when a bagged cleaner it is great.
