I've been using this vacuum for over 5 years now and it worked like a champ up until the belt broke a few days ago. It was a given to us by one of my wife's friends who was going to let it go in a yard sale. Anyone have any idea what belt to purchase for this thing and where I can get one? Nowhere can I find reference to a model 674D. The number around the "nipple" on the bottom is "18".
Here are a couple of pics:

ok...you need

a Eureka RD belt. there sold at vacshops or walmart. a belt needs to be changed every 3 to 6 months. a rubber vacuum blet des not last the life of the vacuum, it sreaches so whemn your brushroller is on the carpeting it wont have ehough traction to turn the brush....

thats what ive....

heard......i wonder if Alex Bruan would care to come on and confirm that????? HINT HINT!!=).....my yellow Cordaway modle is a 600 series nad hes the one that told me that, but that one is of carse a bit older than this one...

his is the wild moss plasic based. and the 8 in the "nipple" from 1978. wich would be correct, since i have a higher end wild moss from 1976

Thanks Y'all!
It's actually a great working vacuum (when it has a belt)!
And I appreciate the info!
I've seen reference on this site to using a Hoover 49258 belt - would this belt work if I cannot find the Eureka RD belt?

Folks, I have to tell you. Until a few days ago, I never imagined people collected vacuum cleaners.
After lurking on this forum for a few days, it's a really neat hobby (or business for some).

Thanks again!

well thanx for the complement....

but please i BEG you....do NOT use the Hoover belt. the hoover belt is a bit smaller and will fit when forced, but is EXTREMELY hard on that lower end Eureka motor. are there any vaccum shops in your town??.....vacuum shops regualry carry thse belts at all times....

Here is my 674 A

I had the motor replaced with a Sanitaire and it runs like a dream. I got the belt at the vac shop when I had the work done. Replaced the beater bar when I first got it about 5 years ago.
