I wish I would have kept all our old American Hotel register catalogs--I still remember as a kid drooling at the wide models. More because I wanted to take one apart and see how it worked versus actually use it.

Sears also sold a version of the Eureka Ironsides canister and Vibragroomer power nozzle with Kenmore Heavy Duty branding. I have one but haven't taken purdy pictures of it yet.
Must've been sold in 1990, because the Ironsides were only marketed from 1989 to 1992; Sears catalog uploads are available during that span except for that year. The Kenmore canisters at the time were much more modern-looking than the Ironsides, whose styling originated with the Sweet Sixteens in 1971, so it surprises me that they would have one among their selections.

Found a 1991 Sears Catalog with what appears to be the model-type 4034-B, and a 1980 Montgomery Wards catalog with its "Wide-stroke" model SP8880 in Hot Fudge & Frosted White.

The Kenmore Heavy Duty line as interesting. They were sold 1988 ish to maybe 1990. Aside from a couple of Heavy Duty branded Singer Twin Fan models and a Whirlpool soft bag upright, they brought back the old square canister body from 1974 with the lid that had an attachment cubby molded in and a hinged lid on top. They had black lids, gray lower bodies and a red furniture guard. There was also a Heavy Duty version of the Power Spray and their little Oreck Ironman vacuum.
This is the resurrected 1970 Kenmore sold as the Heavy Duty 3.9 circa 1988-ish to maybe 1990. The hose is also gray like the attachments. The Eureka Ironsides based model is also labeled a Kenmore Heavy Duty 3.9. I have since found a correct gray dusting brush. The one in the images is a Hayden attachment with the neck cut down a little bit to fit the slot in the lid. You can have a nice chuckle at how I back up the thin piece of open cell foam in the OEM pre-motor "filter". It is Electrolux EF-1 media held in place with some 1/4 inch wire mesh to keep it out of the motor opening. Works good. The bag is a Nacecare synthetic HEPA dust bag for Numatic vacuums.

Interesting Kenmore background.

I located your '70s Kenmore design model in a Sears 1989 catalog, and on the same page noticed a 3.9-amp model, which I presume is the one you called the Eureka Ironsides design. If so, you were possibly thinking of the Express or Aero (I'm unfamiliar with the plastic-body Eureka canisters of that period). If not, I have yet to find one that meets your description.

Check it out. 1989. One of my favorite old Kennys. I guess they are kind of rare too. Amazingly two brand new still in the original plastic bag gray hoses for the Heavy Duty 3.9 came up on eBay a few years ago and I swooped.

I have to take some photos of this Kenmore branded Eureka I have. It is identical to the black steel body Eureka Ironsides in the far right image except fixed cord, but the metal body is gray with black plastic and charcoal and red Kenmore graphics. It came with a Vibragroomer power nozzle.

If you look at the 1989 Sears Catalog page, vacuums 3 and 4, little Kenmore Capri models, are a vacuum I have a weird fascination for. I have examples of almost every flavor of them including one that I really hot rodded as a daily driver. That one I replaced the mild single stage motor with a modern tapered fan single stage Ametek 119347-01 that is used in the Pro-Team Supercoach backpack vac. It is a drop in replacement for the original, looks like the original too except for the fan but at normal operating orifice sizes it out performs the big two stage Ametek 115923. Fantastic motor. It is almost too much for the Capri.
I modified a Kenmore Whispertone motor housing to enclose the motor and reduce the sound. Also allowed me to add some filtration to the exhaust on the housing. But the first time I fired it up it was moving more air than the exhaust port could handle and was literally pushing the motor cover up and blowing exhaust out all around the perimeter! So I took it apart, carefully removed the left wheel ( cord reel side ) and drilled some holes in the body behind the wheel where they can't be seen, just like you find on modern Kennys. Now it works great and is one of my favorite vacuums.
My hot rodded Capri next to a my working Premier 4.1 that has the same high powered motor. The larger power nozzle was Nutone branded and has a silent poly v-belt conversion. The dark gray wheels are my visual reference to my hot rodded versions. Also made an 8 foot hose for the Capri. It can use either a modified Panasonic C-18 bag or an Electrolux OX bag.

That was a Kenmore canister I would've easily bought back in the day, even I'd take it over a Miele in a heart beat. I could've had it for vacuuming underneath beds, stairs, and barefloors while I'd use a Heavy Duty upright for everywhere else since I prefer uprights over canisters. This is the only video I see so far of one on YouTube.
