The Eureka Rally
Has its roots in the Eureka Express.canister, which was introduced in 1984 as competition for the Hoover Dimension canister. The Express had Eureka's Vibra-groomer III agitator (basically the same 4-brush, 4 beater bar arrangement as Hoover's Quadraflex agitator), electronic variable speed control, and independent on/off switch for the powernozzle. Around 1988 or so, Eureka introduced the Rally, which was the same overall body style as the Express, but with the more basic Eureka power nozzle design, and no electronic speed control, instead having a simple bleed valve in the metal handgrip to reduce suction.
