I would like photos and informnation on Eureka Rally Canisters. Even possible top-of-the line ones. Even brochure scans I will take.

The Eureka Rally

Has its roots in the Eureka Express.canister, which was introduced in 1984 as competition for the Hoover Dimension canister. The Express had Eureka's Vibra-groomer III agitator (basically the same 4-brush, 4 beater bar arrangement as Hoover's Quadraflex agitator), electronic variable speed control, and independent on/off switch for the powernozzle. Around 1988 or so, Eureka introduced the Rally, which was the same overall body style as the Express, but with the more basic Eureka power nozzle design, and no electronic speed control, instead having a simple bleed valve in the metal handgrip to reduce suction.

I have a Rally!

I dont know much about it except that it works awesome LoL! I have the power nozzle for it too. I have attached a video of my rally and also a pic of it next to the express.

Loved the Eureka Rally!

The best feature of this canister vac was that the cord reel port was top-side - the cord came out of the top of the unit like many European vacs of the era. I always found that this made pulling out the cord so much easier, as well as controlling the cord on its way back in.

In Canada, the Eaton's department store sold a suction-only black "The Boss" version of the Rally - with nice chrome wands and the newer Eureka carpet nozzle with attached neck. I wanted one sooooo badly! But I was kind of still in the "vacuum closet" at the time.

If memory serves me correctly, the Rallys all came with the high end Express Power nozzle with VGIII- some with headlight, others without.

Oooops! Clarification:

What I meant to say was that "if the Rally was part of a Power Team, the power nozzle was usually an Express Power nozzle with VGIII." Later versions may have been sold with the newer World Vac Power Nozzle with brushed edge cleaning - can't remember for sure....

Like I said, Eaton's also offered a suction only version of it in Canada - not sure if this was an Eaton's exclusive.....

Would be fun to see some scans of vac pages from Eaton's famous annual catalogues of the era! :-)
