Does anyone know what Eureka models had the Vibra Groomer III brushroll?

They seem to be far and few between....seems the VGII was more popular even in the new Sanitaires......

Speaking of VGII's....what type of lubricant is best to maintain those with the SLEEVE bearings?....I have two (a P/N & an Upright with sleeve bearings) and just noticed that Hesco no longer carries the bearing & shaft replacement kits.

Sleeve Bearings...

ONLY use oil on sleeve bearings. Using grease will destroy them! The sleeve bearing material is made of a porous bronze material and will soak up the oil. As the bearing dries, more oil will come out of the bronze and keep a very thin film of oil between the bearing material and the shaft.

I tend to use a synthetic motor oil (SAE20 or 30) and let it soak in for a while before I clean it all up. Keep it lubed, and it should last a very long time. Most sleeve bearings fail from oil starvation. Starve it once and it's all over!

The Eureka Vibra groomer I came out on the Green Dome upright cleaners in they mid 70's. Usually the top of the line cleaners, with the 3.5 amp motor, ball bearings in the top and
bottom. Then they were in all of the early ESP cleaners with the burgandy color. As they had ball bearings and we're needed
so the roller would spin at the speed of the 6.0 amp motor.
The VG II was designed to be used with sleeve bearings first
for the first proto type self propelled. but they put an ESP
motor in the self propelled when they introduced it in FEB 79.
The vibra groomer I was all steel and very expensive to replace, when nicked or damaged. As it would go out of balance. I think my wholesale price was 32.95 in the early 80's. Which ment my retail price in the vac shop was 40 or 42.95. to get some profit. So the VG II came also with Ball bearings and sold for a smaller price as a replacement. I'm thinking retail was 29, maybe 34.95. which was a more reasonable price for a 149.99/189.00 vacuum cleaner!

Another though, is that back in the late 70's and early 80's
the Cinc. Branch of Eureka had great sales. AS they used to
beat out Columbus branch in sales numbers on occassions. Plus
if your between Dayton and Cinci. Fusnecker Vac Shops in Dayton sold tons of Eureka uprights and can's back in those
days too. It could be alot of them are still in use. As my
x-wife has a 2086, esp from the 80s', at least 25 years ago
and still using it. I've put brushes and fans in it over the
years and it just keeps on going ! I swear it is probably the
best store bought upright since Hoover model 28 after the war.

Anyone have any info on the Vibra Groomer III (3)....the one with 4 brush strips with stiffeners.....such as eureka models that they were used in...etc.

VGIII

Was introduced on the Eureka Express canister line in maybe 1986?
It was direct competition for the Hoover Dimension 1000.
I know of NO Eureka upright models that used the VGIII

The VGI was introduced in 1972. I have a 2070D upright that has it, and it is original to the cleaner.
The VGII was introduced in 1979, on the 1458A upright.

Thanks Jeff.....Interesting that it was never used in an upright.

I guess the VGI would not have been original to my 2020B then....I think it came out in 1971??
Probably would have had the wooden agitator with the red beater bars? Of course when I got it...it had a brushroll that I have never seen before....instead of the red beater bars it had 2 rows of short stubby bristles and 2 rows of regular brushes. Square mounting ends.....
I replaced that with a VGII and love the way it performs...

VGIII

They are still available from Ristenbatt's. Eureka Express Power Nozzle for upscale Eureka Canisters and Central Vacs. I also believe they were on the Eureka Ultra Uprights in the 80's.

In the early 2000's, the VG3 was on the top-of-the-line Europa, then the green top-of-the-line Oxygen when it replaced the Europa, and on the clear Whirlwind canister for an additional charge, replacing the standard brush roll, which I think was wood. It probably came standard on the TOL central vacuum PN, but I don't know that for sure. The VG3 was a really good brush roll, but it was a little louder than the standard roll.

VGIII

I have two p/n's with this brush roll, one is setup to work on either of my Airways, the other is part of a Eureka Express canister that Fred got for me last year.
I like the P/N very much, its every bit as good as a Hoover quadreflex p/n.
I also like the Express because of its light-ness, its very easy to maneuver and use, but the bags leaked on those something fierce!
I used one of those bagless whirlwind canisters a few years back, I thought it was an ok machine!

hey guys, thanks for all of the info....I definitely want to find another PN with the VGIII for use with my central vac.....I have one that came with a refurbished Euro-pro canister....the PN has a Euro-Pro label on it, but I have seen the same PN sold on Central Vac sites under the Dust Care and Black Hawk brand name.....I like it, but I don't love it...it is made of very light weight, cheap plastic...It seems to just skim over the carpet....if it had more weight I think it would perform much better. I have only had it apart a few times and already one of the screw holes has cracked and one is starting to strip!!!

(I tried to post this on Sunday....But what was left of IKE came roaring through Ohio Sunday afternoon with winds of 60-70 MPH....we had lots of downed trees and power lines....our power was just restored tonight around 9:00pm....Not complaining mind you, can't imagine what those people went through and still are going through down South!)

Fuller Brush?

I used a Fuller Brush canister with a PN and I believe it looked like the above. As I remember, it performed well.

Yes Rick you're right....I forgot it was also used on the Fuller brush canisters.

Wonder who makes it?
