I have started using a Eureka ESP upright, model 2330 to clean our church because it picks up more dirt than any other vacuum I have tried. the problem is that it constantly burns up the belt. with a brand new belt I can vacuum for about 20 minutes and then the belt needs to be replaced because the brush is stalling even on flat carpet. when i change the belt, everything is turning smoothly. the brush strips are pretty worn but still work(it has the vibra groomer 2 brushroll in it) it just seems like the belts should last longer than they are. before I started cleaning, i was letting the person that cleaned the church use it because she hated the vacuums that the church had, and the belts were lasting about a month. why is this happening? I also have a Eureka 1934 that is basically brand new that doesnt have very good suction and I cant figure out why. the fan is fine, and its not clogged. the 2330 has the 6.5 amp motor and the 1934 has the 5 amp motor. THANK YOU!

Maybe there is something wrong with the brushroll, causing the belts to burn, just a guess. And of course it has bad suction, it is a 1934A, they aren't the best cleaners

What condition is the belt pulley in? If it's getting thin, belts will heat up and break quickly.

Perhaps you should have the brushrool checked to make sure it isn't bent or disfigured somehow. Also check and make sure the belt is on correctly. It should have a diagram on how to position the belt right next to where you put it in. Also, maybe put the wheel setting up higher. Sometimes a low setting doesn't work well on some models. Also does the belt(s) that you buy, say specifically that they fit Eureka Models F&G? They should be round and cylindrical, not flat.

Hope this helps,

Alex

Stop using cheap-ass walmart grade belts, spend an extra 3 bucks and get the real commercial ones from a janitorial supply store, replace the belt pulley (GENUINE SANITAIRE WHICH I CANNOT STRESS ENOUGH) and replace the brushroll just to be safe, again GENUINE Sanitaire replacement Vibra-Groomer I or II. And like Alex said, raise the height adjustment up one notch. I have no idea why I'm helping you, its most likely my love of that style machine. Before you get all pissy and tell me that its a Eureka not a Sanitaire, don't bother. They are the same basic machine and use the same basic repair parts. The commercial grade Sanitaire parts will be better in such a high wear setting.

Another thing. I use Sanitaire machines VERY heavily in extremely harsh commercial settings, and I only go through a belt every 2 weeks, and mind you I am not overly gentle with the machine I am using. Also I am using it for roughly 2.5 hours every day and its belt still lasts amazingly well.

I just switched the pulley with the one from my 1934 and that is DEFINETLY the problem! the pulley was really worn when I compared them, and when I tried to vacuum with it it worked better than it has in the entire time i have had it! im going to order the pulley, a new fan, new brush strips, and a new bag tomorrow. thanks everybody!

THANK YOU Matt, that was a good tip about getting sanitaire parts not eureka, I knew they were basically the same, but didnt think about the quality being better.

I checked on hesco's and I was wondering if anybody can tell me if these are the right part numbers, I would appreciate it! fan-E-12988, pulley-E-370122, brush strips for VG2-E-522824 . THANK YOU!

UH OH... the fan doesnt fit! The blades are too tall and they hit the fan casing when I put the motor back on. by my guess the blades are about an eighth of an inch too tall. if anybody wants/ needs one i will sell it for what I paid for it ($1.29) plus shipping (or trade for the right one...!) email me. my email address is kauffmandustin92 AT yahoo DOT com

Wow, that's totally my bad. I'm so used to seeing the higher-amp motors, which take the larger fan (clear). I totally spaced. Sorry. You need the black fan. They're so cheap, I'd be happy to send you one (on me), but I won't be at work for a few days.

This one has a 6.5 amp motor and the original fan is (was) clear. I will be glad to send you the fan, because I have no use for it. just email me so I can get your address and you can get mine. my email is in my last post above. THANK YOU!!!
