I wonder if people like @1926700 had ever seen a Brandywine Eureka Express canister, whether in person or in print? I'd think this to have been a higher member in the 8290 series, correct? I remember seeing one of these in print from a BEST (formerly JAFCO) catalog.

Gosh, that's a nice brochure! Never really knew which Eureka Power Team offered the Vibra Groomer One - but there it is in black and white and brandywine!

well I don't think this is the machine Ben was talking about. The Express was like the rally all plastic body canister in the 80's Plus the ad here says model 1289 and he's looking for something 8290

Yes you are right. Ben is talking about the Express canister which had the new Express power nozzle, gas-pump hose handle and Vibra Groomer III.

I never saw one in brandywine, but the top of the line Express canister with electronic variable speed motor was a kind of grape (or maybe cranberry) colour with coral pink bumpers and foot buttons. It was the top-rated canister in Consumer Reports testing at the time - around 1988.

LOL,,,,=)

my mistake......i thought ben had said Empress not Express...lol....oh well...i guess i was having a off day....=)....but yes i know that machine.....

Bud! You have the model of Express Canister that was top-rated by Consumer Reports in 1988! That one has the electronic variable speed control on the hose handle. Lovely machine in really elegant colours. Just wish they would have allowed you to store a floor brush on the main unit with the rest of the tools....

Ben - Eureka only referred to their 1800 series vacs as the Empress II's (the advertising department also branded them the FastVacs). None of the Power Team versions (series 1200) were ever labelled Empress II. I guess the name died when Electrolux bought Eureka in 1974..... :-(

Love this Express tv commercial....

wrong!!!!!!

i have a model 1288 POWERTEAM that says "empress II" right on the top control label

Hey Jason!! I stand corrected! Thanks for that....I never knew that the name was used on those first generation 1200's....:-)

I wonder how many more 1200's kept the name as the 1970's decade progressed. I can see that your 1288 is definitely a top of the line Power Team (6 radio buttons on the FastVac "dashboard"), and it looks like it must be from the very first year (1973) since that Harvest Gold colour was used at the time.

But Eureka must have been using up the Empress II labels made originally for the suction-only 1800's, because no where on the control panel does it say Roto-Matic Power Team....

Thank you for the correction! :-)

actually mine is from ....

1976, believe it or not......=).....

there was top of the line before hand in a ugly green color.....

heres a ad for the first 3 poweteams from 1973 or 1974, then there were a few changes in the line in 1976, the orange midrange had a headlight aded to the PN, si did the Empresses a PN also. and then the gold empress was brought in istead of the green.....

and another after thoght.....

the power team name was only on the powerheads of this first Grenration set.....not even on the orange canister did it say Rotomatic.....or even powerteam....

First Power Team Canisters with VG-I Brush Roll (circa 1976)

@1926700
I wonder what the model #s are as to the very first RMPT canisters with the VG-I brushroll in the PN (circa 1976)?

I also would like to know what Wards Signature Power II canisters (the "Power II" designation was trademarked by Montgomery Ward in 1977) had the VG-I roll in the PN.
