Eureka ESP problem

Hey guys well a couple of days ago I was vacuuming with my blue Eureka ESP Self-propelled and I was vacuuming my brothers' room and I got a little too close to his shoes and then... yup... you guessed it. It sucked up the shoelaces. I turned the vacuum off almost immediately after that happened, it was about two more seconds after it sucked it up but before I shut it off, the motor made a very whiny metal ringing-like noise. There was no burning smell in case you guys wanna know that as well. I haven't turned on the vacuum since that happened but I want to hear what you guys think. I just mainly want to know what caused that noise and if the vacuum will be ok. I really need to know whats wrong with it!! Thanks!!

Put a new belt on and it will be fine. I have sucked up plenty of things that shouldn't be (mainly in my Church's Sanitaire SC 684) and have never done any permanent damage. Nothing worse than a burned belt anyway.

good lord!!! your a vacuum collector its not that hard!

Buy a new belt, flip the machine over, check the fan and pulley and brush, then throw on a new belt. then run it and see what it sounds like. When you become a collector, it does not pay to be afraid.......cautious yes, afraid no.......there's a difference.

It's not going to explode or anything, just check it over, put on a new belt, and switch it on. Everything should be fine.

You won't believe what happened today! I sucked up a--you guessed it--shoelace with my Kirby Classic III, and the cleaner struggled to spin at the right speed, causing me to turn it off. Luckily the belt didn't break and once the shoelace was dislodged the cleaner spun at its normal speed again.
