I found this Hoover model 26 at a sale on Sunday. I brought it home, shook out the original bag and wiped it down quickly for the photo-op, pretty nice machine!
The cord and switch have been replaced with white ones, but it looks like the owner took good care of this machine. There was also a Kirby Classic in the house too.
Also known as the "Ensemble in Brown" and was considered the 30th anniversary cleaner for 1938. Looks like you found one with its original bag...very hard to find! I always liked the dignified look of this machine. Thanks for the photos. This is one clean cleaning machine!
Greg that is such a beautiful machine, I love the style of the hood and base. Isn't it amazing that a machine that is at least 65 years old is still working doing it job and doing it well. I bet that 65 years from now much of the plastic stuff we have won't even be around.
And the award for best performance of a statistician goes to
Jeff, the stats are great (post 17059). Fred S. I know you're right behind. I've been in the same room during Fred's moving when you two were "stat sparing." Maybe we can get some competitive fun going on a thread. I know, lets see who can be the first to post a block of stats when someone posts a new Hoover acquisition. Tom Anderson, I know you can chime in as well.
Love to see you guys spill your knowledge. We all learn so much.
Hi Greg, another nice find, looks a stunner, those elongated hoods do it for me, it looks great in a darkened room with the light working, almost like a Cylon!!!
Thanks guys - it's a fun find for sure. I glanced at it as I was shopping the basement and decided to have a better look - when I turned it over and saw the model and condition, I knew it had to come home. When I plugged it in, it started right up and sounds great. Until I spoke to Jeff later that night, I had no idea it was a pre-war machine which only adds to the coolness factor for me. That last thing in the world I need is another (anything) around here, but how can you say no? I looked around for tools but didn't see them anywhere.
