Not an Epic 3250, but an Epic 3500 in charcoal gray, for only $20, to complement the cylinder.

Here he is, "out of the box"; well, out of my trunk, anyway.

Handyman

He's a little worse for wear, but runs just fine, with no funny or scary noises. The seller for whatever reason replaced the switch with a rocker, and made some repairs to the cord, but the switch actually looks fairly good and is easy to use.

The full-on shot of the two brothers. Now I need to find "cousin" Ambassador III in the matching colors.

The seller did mention he might be able to find a hose and (possibly) attachments, which will be great.

Thanks, yes; entirely forgot about the Renaissance. Suppose it wouldn't hurt to add the matching Floor Pro shampooer, either.

sireluxomatic, that machine is supposed to have a rocker switch. From the the way I read your post it sounds like you thought that wasnt the correct style switch. If Im misinterpreting it I appologize, but as far as I can remember nearly every Epic series upright and later had a rocker switch and Electrolux stopped using the slide style switch like what had been used on the Discovery uprights.

BTW thats a nice machine. I had the same 3500 for a long time complete with the caddy, sidekick, and all the original accessories. I got it for only $50 and it wasnt that old at the time, I still wish I kept it.

You read it right; I didn't realize that was the proper switch. I was comparing it to the earlier Discovery and Genesis machines; also, the seller told me he had to replace the switch, so I thought he put on a different kind. Either way, I do like it better than the slider.

They are quite good, these Lux uprights, and this is coming from a dyed-in-the-wool canister man. I hope the seller manages to find the hose; he said he had one, but didn't know what happened to it.

Andrew:

Ever check Kijiji, NLBuySell, and NLClassifieds? All of the Luxes I've scored for a while now have come from ads on those sites. There are always ads for other brands too, but I'll admit I don't pay a lot of attention to those.

Nice set =) I to like the Epic series. My aunt had a 3500 with the attachment caddy and Sidekick. I used it often when I vivsited. She traded it in for a Kirby Ultimate G cause her daughter started selling them, then the Kirby was to heavy for her so she sold that and bought a Dirt Devil bagless. I was why would you do such a thing. She still regrets getting rid of the Lux.

Upright Impressions

I'm quite pleased with this machine. I have little experience and knowledge of uprights, but I can't imagine any other model with such an easy bag change, and it does a pretty good job of cleaning as well (I just did the entire upstairs with it) although I'm sure there are others that do a better job. The hose suction is minimal compared to the cylinders, but perfectly adequate for dusting, I find. They're compact, lightweight, and relatively easy to maneuver. I also like the addition of the carrying handle on the later models (my Discovery III doesn't have one). If and when other Lux uprights come up for sale in the local area, I won't look the other way anymore.
