Hi All,
I Collected Vacuum cleaners since I was about 7 until I was about 11 I guess.. I'm 16 Now and Haven't messed with them in years...

I would like these to go to a collector.. Pardon the Model 105 which has sentimental value to me and the Commercial Royal...

You can have them Cheep or free as long as they will be liked.. I posted them on craigslist and only got people wanting to take them apart for the Motor Windings....

Here are some Pictures, And A short list of what's there (From Memory and Pictures)

Every Machine runs perfectly and I'll clean them up if you want them..

Hoover Model 29
Hoover Model 63 x2
Electrolux XXX One is in Like-new Condition, Other one is for parts..
Royal Super tank
Misc Hand Vacs
Hoover Model 84 (I think?)
Pink Hoover Convertible (I think I have all the attachments)
Regina Electrik-Broom (1968)
Hoover Stick vacuums One commercial and one Homeowner..

I think there are some more... I really Don't know..

I am In the Cleveland Ohio area.. I really don't want to ship anything.. So Local Pickup Is a Must...

Cheers all
Ian

Hi!

I remember you from YouTube, I'm Vacguy99!

While those are lovely machines- I'm certainly not going near Cleveland anytime soon.

If pick-up is an absolute must, I at least hope they go to good homes.

Oh well.

Ian,

While I know you are not selling the Royal Commercial at this time, could you please read to me (and put up pictures of) the nameplate that contains the model, serial and other specs.? To find it, there are two (2) locations:
1. For models made 1970 or earlier, the nameplate can be found riveted on the underside of the motor unit between both sets of wheels.
2. For models made 1971 or later, it can be found applied to the back side of the nozzle casting by the front wheels.

Thank you,

Ben (KirbyClassicIII)

Not actually A Royal

It's Actually A "Clarke" Commercial.. I have the original bag somewhere..

I Just bought the Royal Bag as I used to use the vacuum quite a bit And I didn't want to mess up the original bag..

I guess you could have them picked up by a moving company.. I would really like to meet someone though...

I'll Get you the model tag tomorrow Ben.. I'm off to bed now.

I have decided, I will ship thing if People:

1. Insist I have to
2. Pay shipping, I don't have paypal, So you would just have to send cash
3. You don't live in Albania or Sweden or Mars.

Ian

Ian,

What do you know? A Royal model 3-153 painted red (without any mention of Clarke on the nameplate; other Clarke-branded Royals had Clarke's name on the nameplate, like the model 315 canister that was a version of Royal's 231)!

Date code says August 1976.

Ian,

To speak further of the Clarke 153 nameplate, Royal should have added a "C" to their model number to distinguish it from its own 153 (i.e., 153C) - the "C" stands for "Clarke."

The company name should also have read "CLARKE-GRAVELY CORPORATION, MUSKEGON, MICHIGAN 49441" since this is obviously a Clarke product.

~Ben

Ben, maybe since that Royal was built in August of 1967 they didn't have manufacturing coding like they do in later years?? When I had my store I had a customer that had a red straight suction Royal model 311 that had the Certified name on the bag but if memory serves me right, it had a early 1980's manufacturing date and it did say Certified on the model and serial number tag.

Gravely?

Never heard of a Gravely Vacuum before...

I used to own a Gravely Walking Tractor.. Brilliant machine.. Sold it a few years back to a friend who had acreage and would actually use it.. I'm on 1/4 Acre and It's quite easy to Mow with a Push Mower (I collect Vintage Lawn Boy Mowers BTW)

I really Don't want to ship anything... It's frankly more trouble than it's worth...

Methinks the Salvation Army man Cometh..

Ian,

The date code is August 1976, as I had said earlier. Royal implemented that kind of date code system in 1971, but until you get to 1977 you have to read it this way:

"67H" is read like this:
6 = calendar year 1976
7 = calendar year decade (1970s)
H = calendar month August

So, again, until 1977 it was formatted as year/decade/month.

For 1977 they changed it to a two-digit year code (with the last two digits of the calendar year as such), followed by month, lasting through early October 1978 (example: "78G," for July 1978).

Then, starting later in that time frame, the date code format changed to month/year, again with the last two digits being that of the last two of the calendar year (example: "L78," for November 1978). It had been unchanged since, even after switching to computer programming in March 1985 which changed the serial # format to something like this: D85G001234 (D85 is April 1985).

Maybe?

Got a reply from someone.. Forgetting now who..

We shall see if he turns up.. Other wise.. Call good friend at the vac shop... Then Salvation Army

Sad state of things... However, I may pick up vacuum collecting some day.. It sure takes up less space then My current collection, Which is older Lawn Boy Lawn Mowers (Restored By Yours truly)..

Mom and Girlfriend patiently tolerate it... the trouble is.. I really don't like old vacuums..

If I were to start collecting again, It would most likely be Concept one style Machines or elites...

However, I'm more than happy with my 3 or so vacuums I just use...

Rephrase...

There should have been a space between..

"Mom And girl Patiently tolerate it"

And "Trouble is"

I despise this new forum style.. I was on here years ago as "Capstan" And I SWEAR You could edit things..

AGHHHHH

Ian
