Electrolux Vaporizers & Sprayers

Please let me know which styles/colors of vaporizers and sprayers went with which cleaner model and/or year. There are such a variety of them online and in secondhand stores.

Some I've seen (vaporizers): chrome, white, hammertone blue, hammertone teal, crinkle white, crinkle gray...

The sprayer tops I've seen are: brown, chrome, and black--some with and some without the Electrolux logo on the reservoir.

It seems that those with white boxes (black and red printing) are from the '50s. What about the plain colored with the blue (vaporizers) and red (sprayers) printing?

Just to begin with last versions-There is a vaporizor with the 2 extended release push buttons for 1205 and later top exhaust.The last sprayer was probably with white plastic top.

These colors of vaporizers and sprayer tops are what I suppose fit with what machines based on what I've seen online and in owner's manuals:

Model XXX (1937-48): chrome vaporizer, chrome sprayer top
Model XXX (1949-52): gray wrinkle paint vaporizer, brown bakelite sprayer top
Model XXX (1952-54): teal hammertone vaporizer, black bakelite sprayer top
Model LX (1952-54): teal hammertone vaporizer, black bakelite sprayer top
Model LXI (1954-55): teal hammertone vaporizer, black bakelite sprayer top
Model E (1955-56): blue hammertone vaporizer, black bakelite sprayer top
Model AE (1956-57): blue hammertone vaporizer, black bakelite sprayer top
Model T (1956): blue hammertone vaporizer, black bakelite sprayer top
Model F (1957-61): white vaporizer, black bakelite sprayer top
Model S (1957-60): white vaporizer, black bakelite sprayer top
Model R (1960-63): white vaporizer, black bakelite sprayer top
Model L (1963-69): white vaporizer, black bakelite sprayer top
Model G (1961-68): white vaporizer, black bakelite sprayer top
Model 1205 (1968-69): teal vaporizer, black bakelite sprayer top

I have a 1973 Model 1205 manual that does not picture the vaporizer, so while they may have still been available from what was already in stock it seems that they were no longer being manufactured.

Regarding the boxes, it seems that the white boxes with black and red labeling were first sold with the Model LXs. Prior to that the boxes were either plain with red lettering or blue lettering. Sometime around 1968 the boxes were white with black and gold graphics and lettering including the "boat-shaped" logo.

Thanks, Kevin. Even if your information isn't completely accurate it gives me an idea of what to look for as I consider completing my Electrolux machine packages. Good detective work!

I have the 1969 1205 manual and it doesn't even mention the sprayer or vaporizer.

It does show the front of the 1205 with both the connections for the pigtail as well as the power connection on the hose. You could use the G hose with the pigtail or the new style electric hose without the pigtail.

I do have one addition for you. There were two different versions of the chrome sprayer and the chrome vaporizer. You have the later versions. The earlier sprayer just had a hole on top that you covered with a finger or thumb when you wanted to spray instead of a knob. And the earlier vaporizer had a more rounded body. I do have one of the earlier vaporizers but unfortunately don't have a picture of it to post.

Thanks, Jeff. I appreciate knowing your information, too. I didn't realize that there were earlier chrome versions of the vaporizer and sprayer. If you know when they were updated please let me know. Otherwise, maybe someone who has the Model XXX manuals from over the years could chime in.

Ray, thank you for letting me know about the 1969 Model 1205 manual. Jimmy's post (reply #1) mentions that the Model 1205 had one, so that was probably just in 1968 when they debuted.

I don't know for sure, but I'm guessing that the rounded vaporizer and sprayer with the thumb hole may have been sold with the pre-war XXX's.

Correction on Reply #2: I just noticed that my 1973 1205 manual mentions the vaporizer and sprayer in the "Optional Equipment" section. I also have a 1976 Super J manual which mentions both in its "Other Fine Electrolux Products" section. That means that the vaporizers and sprayers were made by Electrolux at least through 1978.

Re: Replies 5 & 7: Here are pics of a current eBay listing that showing the earlier chrome sprayer with the thumb hole instead of the dial sans the "shampoo", "wax, and "off" dial indicators. The last pic is a later version that kind of shows the indicators for comparison.

Re: Logo: The earlier "Electrolux" letters in the circle/triple line segment logo were outline-style instead of single-line-style like the later ones.

Red lettering on sprayer

Hello. I recently sold an Electrolux found in my aunt's house while cleaning it out after she died. There was a sprayer and vaporizer found in the basement. I sent pictures of them to a site that sells them, in case they wanted to buy mine to sell. They're not interested in buying them, but they emailed me and said:

"In my lifetime I have never seen a Electrolux sprayer attachment with red lettering in the top. My Mom had one brand new, my Grandmother had a few of them , I've had hundreds of them, they were all just black bakolite. Somebody did that to that sprayer."

While I don't have the experience with these sprayers that they have, I can't believe that a person can do the red lettering so perfectly, or that anyone would spend the hours that it would take on something like a sprayer. I'll include pictures. Has anyone ever seen the sprayer with this red lettering on top? Thank you.
