Electrolux superbroom with motorised brush!

I really LOVE these, I remember a very good friend showing another one of this same one and more local to me but I was not interested, now I am now, I regret not buying it.

Anyways, Are there anymore of these in the UK? I would buy this apart from the fact I cannot send a courier even to pay, I also cant collect it as its in Bristol, I am in Birmingham.

Yeah I was once offered one at a kinda tabletop sale thing for £ 10 but for some reason I turned it down, so yeah there are more around
I have the green one though but with no motor brush

Funnily enough I only recently reviewed my green one the other day. The green one is hopeless - and to make matters worse, Electrolux have now started putting the thing out with Zanussi badges on it.

The brush model is probably better, but you'd still be compromised by the weak suction with the brush roll just turning dirt around trying to get into the small dust channel. Id say go for the Super Cyclone Lite Z411 if you can find it.

Thanks to the both of you, however I saw that exact red Zanussi one in Amazon.co.uk for £20 brand new, I am not sure about it, I saw the yellow one at a carboot sale for £3 but i bought the morphy richards pod stick vacuum corded upright with hose, straight suction but decent.

Electrolux Z161A

We had similar models in US as a Eureka,both battery & corded.Was one of the best ever choices for the size & price.The earliest rechargables had reset switch on nozzle.

How much did they cost though? In the UK the Superbroom Z161 cost £19-99 in general. That's around $32-27 in today's currency value. The Zanussi one isn't any better - my neighbour bought one and oh the fun we had playing with it on Christmas day! It's okay on hard floors but give it bulky bits of paper and it gets stuck in between the tiny dust channel and the main bin.

Id say the Bissell Featherweight is probably better...

Even the one they're selling currently at Walmart is cheaper than what we have to pay in the UK.

Yeah it struggles to pick much up, don't get me started on cat hair! And that bissel you said about is even worse, i have that too! The best mini upright vac is probably the g-tech cordless sweepers!

Cordless sweepers? NOOOO!!!! I had a swivel sweeper G2 about 2 years ago, it was terrible! it cleaned good but is not built to had, the second replacement back saver handle snapped too in normal use, and then the plastic brushbar cover broke off, and then the neck of the sweeper snapped! It became un-useable.

Sometimes I wish i was in America so I can get the perfect vacuums with brushbars even though the UK Vacuums have a nice style, American vacuums too have a nice style but clean better in my opinion.

Ah but the swivel sweeper is different to the Gtech. For a start you can buy spares off Gtech's website and they're better made.

When I come to think about it, ideally speaking the "mini stick vac" idea could well be handed over to the Vax Mach Air - it is small after all, easy to store and has enough power to put stick vacs to bed. It has also massively reduced in price due to Vax's new swivelling Air3 models.

Gtech

i saw a Gtech in the Argos catalogue, I am impressed with the 2 hour runtime! How long will it cope in a 3 story house (busy family household with loads of people?)

However, I was thinking of buying the Dyson DC44 stick vacuum because of its nice look and colour, the brochure that I have which tells us ow useful it is and where you can use it, It's amazing motor and cool electric heads, the tools seem nice as well, I am going to buy if when a retailer like Argos can do a deal on it and include the kit with the handheld hose and them home cleaning tools etc, seems like a really nice vacuum!

Well I dont know about a three storey house but my Gtech can get around 5 rooms, 2 bathrooms, a large kitchen and then there's the outhouse - all with ease - so light to carry too!

The dc44 is awesome, but the dc35 is cheaper and just as good, but wil not run anywhere near as long as a g- tech,

Dont get confused though - Gtech's Air Ram cordless upright is expensive - the simple sweeper I have is the SW02. Has a general running time of 60 minutes and only requires 16 hour or 8 hour charging when it runs out. Depending on how much you clean you can buy other models that have a longer running time. However I find the Gtech is sufficient for my needs. Its an instant sweeper whenever friends or relatives arrive and there at a moment's notice. I may consider the Air Ram in the future.

I used the Air Ram at Comet, I dont like it, the dirt falls out , but its abit kool because of it's stiff brushbar and fan!

My parents had two of these stick vacs and they loved them!

In North America, they were originally branded by Eureka as the "Boss Lite", and my parents had one here in their primary home here in Toronto, and a second one in their vacation apartment in South Florida. They were relatively inexpensive - about $40 in the stores if I remember correctly.

My mom is a senior and loved how easy it was to use to sweep up the kitchen floor after every dinner (or even breakfast with the floor dotted with bread crumbs or bagel seeds). Flipping on the revolving brush, it was great for the mat in front of the kitchen sink or in front of the entry door or the thick carpeted mat in the bathroom. My late father would even turn it into handvac mode (the handle is removeable) and use it to clean his car! The great thing about the Boss Lite is that you can recharge the battery by removing it from the vac - this allows you to store the vac away from an electric outlet in a closet, while having the battery pack recharge near a plug somewhere. You can also hang the vac near a plug and have it recharge as one complete unit.

It was even great for fast pickup of crumbs and other stuff off the plush carpeting in the dining room!

When I lived in Israel in 1998, Electrolux was selling an identical stick vac which was branded as the "Tata-Li" which is Hebrew for "Sweep for Me"!!!

The design has stood the test of time and Electrolux still sells these in North America in various colours under the Eureka brandname - I think they are called Quick-Ups which was the very first product name they used on the original suction-only device in the mid 1980's....

Really a nice little easy to use stick vac....

WOW, that is really cool! Thanks! in the UK we have the crappy stick vacs with only suction, at least they are good for hard floors though

You are welcome Tayyab! Keep an eye out for the version with the motorized brush...I am sure Electrolux will sell a 220volt version somewhere in Europe....
