Let me know how you maintain the motor of your Model B-8--what kind of grease you use on the gear and bearings.

I'm also wondering how to remove the two front spindles and how to remove the bearing caps (see photo below).

B-8

In typical household use they need little maintenance.
"remove the bearing caps"? DON'T unless you have new replacements(I don't)as you have to punch hole in and pry up.
I may have service info but little time to locate.

Thanks, Jimmy.

I just wanted to ensure that my B-8s were well-lubricated even though they don't get as much use as vacuum cleaners. Considering their age I thought I should at least check. Didn't know the bearing caps had to be broken to get at the bearings--so I guess I'll leave them alone.

If you ever locate the service manual let me know.

I wanted to mention that I discovered that the original Nylatch fasteners--by Hartwell Corporation--are still available (the part that attaches the sudser shield to the machine) from Aerus LLC or other online sources. The grommets, from my experience, are more likely to break or wear out than the plungers; so keep in mind that you can save yourself some $ by reusing the plunger.

Btw, upon examining the fastener under a magnifying glass I noticed "Nylatch" and "Hartwell Corp. USA"--or something similar embossed on it.
