Hi forum members!

I have above titled vacuum.

It has broken plastic in the wheel / detent areas on both sides from forcing closed. I want to disassemble and epoxy and reinforce the broken plastic.

I searched and was not able to find information on disassembling this area. I took screws out of the black "bottom plate" but does not seem to want to come apart and I don't want to break it and further.

Is there a service manual or exploded views anywhere on these? I was not able to find. Any help much appreciated.

Hi JJ!

Attached are a Hesco schematic and accompanying parts list for Electrolux/ProTeam, Inc. Prolux 1400/1400X L-shape nozzle uprights (Electrolux had its own Prolux industrial uprights for a time, too); the two companies had (and possibly still do) a partnership involving that design and the Lux 4000/Lux 6000/Xtreme/Xtreme Plus/Lux Heavy Duty design with onboard hose and butterfly tool, and some with System Performance Indicators on the nozzle.

Also, here's a link to thread 17577 that offers helpful advice in disassembling your Genesis LX nozzle:

I hope you're successful. Please post some photos and provide any details that may benefit others at some point.

The design of these uprights is really pretty clever. It combines a traditional Electrolux canister and an Omniflow power nozzle into a single upright unit. The fact that this design has been in continuous production by multiple companies for some 40 years is a testament to its success. The thread linked above offers some good insights into taking things apart. One thing I will add is the design is somewhat counterintuitive in that even though the screws are accessed from the underside, the sole plate does not drop off. Instead, the top cover lifts off. That said, you will probably need to do a little careful prying with a flat blade screwdriver to make that happen. You will also need to lay the handle down completely flat to remove the cover. And it's just as much of a pain to put back together. Just have patience and give yourself permission to walk away for a little while if you start feeling frustrated.

Everything is easy when you know how. Flat blade into the 2 slots from bottom was like magic and was apart in a few minutes.

I don't know what epoxy I'm using yet but will probably try a product called fibafuse used in drywall taping to epoxy over the cracks in a couple or few layers.
The grey part shouldn't be an issue but I don't know about the black plastic break. I'll start with the grey part first and see how it goes.

You're welcome, JJ. I hope you're successful. You could probably get a good used replacement, but original is best, and the epoxy fix should suffice. I would think that the crack was a result of an accident rather than regular use; at least it seems to be a rare issue.

Btw, there are three Electrolux Genesis upright models. The first, 1572F introduced in 1990, is named Genesis, lacks a headlight and draws 9.0 amps; the second is yours with the headlight—identified with the 'LX' abbreviation for 'Lux', the SI unit for illuminance; the last appeared around 1992 as the Genesis LXe model 1717, because it was enhanced with a 10.0A motor.
