I have the scrubbing bristle brushes, the shampoo brushes, and the lambs wool pads. I am wanting to apply wax to hardwood floors. What type of brush/pad do I use? Will the bristle brushes be too rough and scratch the floors?

Thanks,
Tim

Felt pads are used with a machine to apply wax to a floor. Since you don't have them, you'll have to do it by hand. Wait for the wax to dry, then buff with the brushes themselves. As a final buff, add the lambs wool to the buffing brushes, and go over the floor again for a mirror shine. I'm assuming you're using paste wax.

Floor Pro on wood floors

First-There can be a big difference between a 1920 wood floor with original finish and a new floor with modern finish.Always read directions on wax or other products and test in closet or out of way area. Also with newer floors you may want advice from floor installers.
The 3 brush Elux is THE best floor machine for all types of floors.I have personaly done following on older wood floors with good older finish.(I used Elux cleaner/wax,a thick liquid that sprays on,but there are many good products.)Apply wax-use green pads on brushes to work onto floor, you can use both sides,-remove pads-buff floor with brush only-add sofy pads and polish floor in direction of grain.I have had great results even on floors you might think needed refinishing but as above floors can be different-test first. If you have local Aerus/Elux office they may have Floor Pro instructions and advice.

Wax

I have a bottle of Electrolux Liquid Wax. I had planned on applying the wax with the brushes, allowing to dry, then polish with the lambs wool pads. I have heard of people spray buffing their floors too. Would I use the brushes for this? Oh yeah, the floors are about 15 years old. Probably finished with polyeurotheane, but it has lost its sheen. I just thought that a good polish during spring cleaning would revive them until I can afford to have them refinished. Bad idea?

newer floors

Electrolux offered a spray bottle for the liquid cleaner/wax that stored on a clip on handle when not used.--On newer finishes I would ask a floor installer or janitor supply type company that deals with many surfaces. Or one of the large home improvement stores at floor dept or cleaning aisle. As we have moved to 'wood' furniture & floors that are not real wood they will need different products and methods to care for.

Real Wood

These floors are not laminate, but genuine hardwood. I'm not afraid of the wax itself, I've just ever used the Floor Pro brushes. I have only used the lambs wool polishing pads to give it a light polish. I just didn't know if the bristle brushes were used only for scrubbing. I thought they may be too rough for wood floors. I don't have an owners manual to refer to, so I knew someone in here would know. I found a You Tube video of someone polishing their hardwoods with a Floor Pro and spray wax. It looked like he was using the brushes without pads.

Wood floors

The bristle brushes can be used for scrubbing tile and even move outside for carport and porch floors. The 3 brush Elux should be the best machine for your wood floors but after selecting the best finish/wax for modern polyurathane and best combination and sequence of brush, scrub pad and/or soft pad.I would ask a floor installer/refinisher,test first and then make the whole house shiny and clean.

Disposable Polishing Pads

I ordered a set of white disposable pads. I'll see how these work and let you all know. Thanks for the input.
