What color PN goes with the Epic 6000SR? Is it supposed to be beige with ELECTROLUX in blue or navy blue with ELECTROLUX in "greige" color?

How do I disassemble the cordwinder? My Epic 6000SR, Epic 6500SR & 75th Anniversary Ambassador won't rewind the cord; & I prefer to automatically rewind the cord instead of wrapping the cord manually.

btw, I also need a new switch with blue switch cover; new switches only come in grey or white.

How long & when were the Epic 6000 canisters made?

I believe that when the 6000 first came out it had the blue power nozzle cover, just as the UltraLux Classic had at the same time, and the later models had the beige color power nozzle covers. My 6000, which happens to be one of my favorite Electrolux vacuums, it combines the best of old and new in one unit, has the beige power nozzle cover. The 6000 I have now was found in the trash. I just happened to be going out to a club with a friend and while I was driving through his neighborhood to pick him up I noticed it by the curb. I told myself if it was there when I got back, that I'd take it home. Sure enough it was still there and the only issue it had was a clogged hose. And the hose is an updated genuine Electrolux vinyl hose, the unit even had the sticker on it from the last time it was serviced at the Electrolux branch that's 5 minutes from my house. These units have the lighted power nozzles which seem to dig a little deeper due to the added weight, lite weight canister unit, good cleaning power, and best of all they retained the original metal wand set up!

Best of luck with your new find, I'm sure you will be able to find a power switch somewhere. I'm not sure where to look for one but someone else on the forum can probably guide you in the right direction.

A word of caution, don't touch the cord winder! Replace the entire cord system or let a trained professional fix it for you. I've said it before here, and so have many others, you can get some nasty cuts from those cord winders. The metal reel is extremely sharp and it slices through skin like a TOL Henkles chef knife! Unless you plan on wearing heavy leather construction style gloves, I wouldn't touch one with a 10 foot pole. Your fingers with thank you!

Epic 6000 new hose & parts

I noticed that the generic electrified hose is a foot longer than the genuine Lux hose; in addition to the generic hose having a ON/OFF switch for PN & sliding suction control valve. I ordered a new generic hose (the one that resembles genuine Lux hose) because my Epic 6000 didn't have any tools or hose. However, I have the original color tools & PN; but I will order another SideKick or Wessel Werk HEB160 later

Is there a hose (electrified or non-electrified) at least 10ft long with handle that swivels available for the Lux?

On the generic hose....

Look at the electrical connection for the power nozzle and side kick. It is longer, I could not use my sidekick on it.....I don't know if it could be adjusted or not.

I bought the generic hose and have no problems using my Sidekick with it. I bought it to use with my Lux '89 because the woven hose had too much leakage. I removed the connection at the tank end and replaced it with the connection from my '89 hose.

I have that generic hose for my Diamond Jubilee but I don't like it as much as the genuine Lux hose. The one I have is the same length as the genuine hose. I do notice that the electrical connection on the end of the hose does seem longer then the genuine lux hose and I did adjust the cord inside of the wand sheath. My biggest issue with the generic hose is the annoying suction relief valve. It seems to open very easily and the slightest bump of the hose and it seems to come open. I feel like I'm always closing it whenever I use that machine. The switch on the handle is a nice feature but I'd rather have the round suction control wheel then the switch. Also the plastic hose handle is not even close to the quality of the Lux hose. I know these aren't huge issues and probably not enough of a problem to justify the added cost of a genuine Lux hose over the generic, but if I could go back in time I would have spent the extra money and bought the genuine Lux hose.

I would like to install an Ametek #115923 high-performance motor in my Epic 6000SR because the original motor is rusted. Is there a way to wire the Ametek #115923 motor into the Epic or should I use the same style motor that originally came in the Epic 6000SR

Generic hoses

On my Epic 6500 - It has a generic hose.......And it's fine........BUT.....I have always had a slight problem, and I don't know if it's the fact that it's a generic hose, or if a regular LUX hose would do the same thing....

Where the hose connects to the canister, when you're vacuuming along and pulling it, sometimes you hear the hissing sound, as if it isn't tight enough connecting to the canister, so you have to jiggle the hose and it stops. I've learned to deal with it while vacuuming. Funny because the connecting to the canister is pretty secure and on correctly...it gets worse as the bag fills....When a fresh bag is in, it's not nearly as bad.

Can a 1205 motor fit my Epic 6000? I'm thinking about buying a good original 1205 motor

UPDATE: I have both genuine & generic Lux hoses; & I think the genuine hose handle swivels more easily than the generic hose handle. Some attachments won't fit the generic hose as well

I purchased a generic Lux hose about 7 years ago for my Diamond Jubilee from ESSCO, which looks very much like the genuine hose. It doesn't swivel nearly as well, is not made with anything close to the same quality of materials as the lux hose, and not only does it not swivel as we'll but the poorly designed suction relief valve opens constantly. If I knew what this hose was going to be like I would have gladly paid the extra money for the genuine hose, no questions asked.

I've not been happy with my generic hoses. The generic hose on my Diamond Jubilee has a broken release mechanism. It was previously stuck on the machine for 7 years, but I was recently able to man-handle it loose. I bought a better-looking generic on Ebay a few days ago. If it also has a screwed-up release, I'll go to Aerus and buy a quality replacement OEM hose.

The Epic 6000 I own also has a generic hose. As others have said, it makes a "woosh" sound when you pull on the hose, meaning the generic hose has an air leak at the inlet on the machine due to poor fit.

I can verify that attaching my brand new 2015 Lux Legacy hose to my 6000 fixes that sound, so it's all in the hose. I may eventually replace it, too.

No, a 1205 motor will NOT fit in an Epic 6000 SR. The Epic 6000 has a motor that is held in a suspension ring. There is a replacement Amtec Lamb motor the will fit in, you just use the suspension ring from the old motor.
