Help Support VacuumLand:

Thank you Kevin! Yeah ive always wondered what that little graphic was meant to be on the Silverado logo too,,dont know.

Notice on the back of the card that introduces the Discovery Upright,,,they mention the "High Performance Rebuilds".
I bought a rebuilt 1205 in 1986 from the Lux salesman,,it was an excellent vacuum. It was all grey hamertone with lighter gray speckles in it. I remember at the time they also had Factory Rebuilt Model Gs and Model Ls. I could have my choice.
I think the 1205 was 200 dollars.
This 1205 did NOT come with a PN, or power hose in the box tho,,just the standard 3 Electrolux attachments, standard hose and 2 aluminum wands. The PN and Power Hose were still considered optional equipment.

I went to the Electrolux office to buy the 1205,,and asked if it came with a PN,, they said no,and wanted to sell me a NEW PN which at the time would have been the PN that went with the DIamond J,,and Power Hose for 250 dollars. I didnt have that kind of money,so the salesman sold me a used hose and PN2 for 50 dollars.

Wish i still had that 1205. Traded it all for a Model LE when they came out in around 1990. Im pretty sure it was around 300 dollars.

The salesman gave me 50 dollars off for the Rebuilt 1205 and PN. Shouldnt have done that, have always regretted it. That Model LE only lasted about 13 yrs. I bet that 1205 would still be going to this day.

From Wikipedia: The name Silverado is a type of Spanglish indicating a place where silver is found; a parallel formation to El Dorado (Spanish for "the gilded place").

Going with Kirbytradition 7's idea that the symbol resembles a conquistador's (conqueror's) helmet; it likely was used in reference to its silver color. So maybe the idea of the namesake, besides the color, is that you can conquer the dust and dirt in your house!

By the way, there is also a Silverado Canyon in California in which the town of Silverado and Silverado Creek are located (so named because of the silver which was originally mined there).

Conquistador's helmet with an embossed fleur-de-lis (another symbol Electrolux used in the '60s on product labels):

Thanks for the 411, Brian (#39), Francis (#40), and Ronni (#41). Cool! Good to know that the vintage machines are among Electrolux's best. Sure is a lot of background data on those cards!

Here's a Model F & matching B7 polisher postcard currently running (or maybe just ended) on eBay.

Charles, Thanks for posting the Model F card. Btw, how do you post more than one pic on a thread?

Anyway, here's another version of the aqua Model G card showing the new aqua B-8 and the new Rug Washer Turbotool (FRONT SIDE):

Same era as the first card in reply #46--thanks John! John, or anyone, do you know what machines are pictured on the cards in that reply?

1995 card FRONT SIDE: (Guessing according to product history list: Centralux/1590 with PN [Model ?], Epic 3500SR/1719, Epic Floor Pro/S105B [gray], Renaissance/C104A with PN Model N106A)

Kevin, in order to post more than one photo in a thread you have to know how to write HTML (web page) code. I've suggested in the past that it might be a good feature for people to be able to post multiple photos at once with the Vacuumland interface, but I guess folks are afraid that people will deluge the forum with photos -- so you have to post them one at a time unless you can write your own code to do it.

@kevin

In reply 46 those are Epic machines. The canister on the far right in the first picture is the Epic 6500SR. Not sure about the model of the central vacuum or the floor pro. The upright is Epic too. In the second pic is the Genesis upright and what looks like either an Ambassador or Diplomat. If it had the dial and lights it was probably the Diplomat. The same progression of the 2100. The bottom picture says that's a Legacy canister but it looks like an Ultralux from that era with metal body and dial on the front door.

A belated thanks for reply #52, Christopher. Regarding your last comment about the Legacy/Model 1521 looking like the Ultralux/Model 1521 of the same era it is interesting to note that the Grand Marquise, Legacy, and Ultralux looked identical (not sure if there were internal differences) to one another although the Ultralux had a name label behind the blower port. The way to tell the difference between the Grand Marquise and Legacy is that the former's serial id's letters were M_F, and the latter's serial id letters were M_L. The last versions of the Model 1521--Ultralux Classic, and Ultralux LX--also had name labels. Their colors were reversed from the first three mentioned--they had navy bodies with sand trim.

Mike (#50), I got the pics online from various sources--mostly eBay. Glad you like the thread.

Charles (#51), belated thanks for the info. Thankfully, that issue has been made more easily accessible.

Again, if anyone knows the years of the cards from replies 46 and 47 along with the makes and models of the machines please post them on this thread.
