Had an Aunt that had a model B7 but she never used it!. She collected everyone cast offs from her mother-in-law and sister-in-laws. She had an old Electrolux tank that would shut off when the bag was full. She would let me help with vacuuming the floor and living room furniture.
John, Thanks for the clarification about the month/year of the Olympia One's debut.
Ray, Thanks for informing us about the Regency Series shampooer. I thought that was unusual that it wouldn't have been manufactured along with the other machines. If you find a photo of one please post it in this thread. Regarding the model of that and the Special Edition one I wonder if they are stamped on the bottoms of the machines (where the brushes are) like other Canadian-style machines? Interesting that the Special Edition's manual doesn't state it somewhere.
I also appreciate the B-8 anecdotes and photos of your early machine. Did yours have the starbursts on the shampoo tank? It seems to me that not all the aqua machines had them. I could be wrong.
It was like the B7 it never came with a shampoo tank. I was just for waxing and polishing floors. The can of wax would have a plastic tube that would run down between the main body and the bumper. The handle on mine doesn't even have the screw holes for the plastic supports for the tank.
The B7 would have had the two speed switch where the cord comes out on my B8.
Is this like the commercial? Wow I could of had a B8 !!!
Oh, ok Ray. In looking at your photos again I also noticed (#59) the sans-serif silver lettering on your machine as opposed to the latter gold serif letters on later machines.
Thanks for posting a pic of the Silverado-era B-8. I don't think they made those as long, because the B-9 was introduced during that time.
Above is correct that the 2 speed switch disappeared and the notch at side is for wax tube. However these could be converted to shampooers as the trend for wall to wall carpet increased. The service departments had a template to locate location for hole to be drilled and the metal bottom was changed to allow tube from shampoo tank and snap on suds shield. If you look at reply 21 you will see 2 metal screw on holders for shampoo tank that must have been the other part of the conversion.Later the hard floor wax was spayed on with a holder mouting on upper handle for spray bottle.
See the next two photos. They seem very similar, so I'm wondering if the brush center was changed after the DJ/Model 1522 Floor Pro (meaning that the B-8s, B-9s, B-10s, and 1522s had interchangeable brushes; maybe even the 1739s)?
Soft or scrubbing pads usually interchange but the B-6 was smaller with separate locking clip.
Reply 85 is B-8 shampoo brush with the notches on edge turning against the brush on suds shield to create foam.
Reply 86 is B-8 brush for hard floors(should never be used with suds shield)pictured with later(wrong)box.
Neither is the last version for B-8 as that would have been solid color plastic and not the material that resembles particleboard(but durable).
The B-9 and later brushes, that release when turned, would have the raised portion in center and DO NOT interchange with B-8 even though they can be forced to fit.
