I plugged in a Guardian without the hose and it came on and ran for a few seconds and then wound down real slow and stopped. The I put on the hose and turned it on and she ran perfectly. My question is why the did vacuum turn on by itself when i plugged in the cord without the hose on it and why did it wind down like it was burning up? The motor shows no signs of trouble so I am puzzled. Is there a circuit board in there that might be going bad that somehow connects to the switch in the hose?

Hey Philip, there are two circuit boards in the Guardian. I would have a qualified vacuum repairman look at it- my guess is there's something wrong with one or both of the boards. Either way, I doubt it would be harmful to ride the wave and use the vacuum as normal till the board completely goes out.

There is an expert on the forum, Elux89, and I highly recommend you email Vernon and ask him. Maybe he will chime in on this thread.
