I finally have a good Electrolux in my collection I did a trade with Alex he got my twin turbo and I got his 500, he originally only bought it for the tools that came with it to complete his 502s, he liked my twin turbo and asked if I wanted to trade I said yes and here we are today, I will be uploading pictures so please nobody comment until I have finished the thread as it makes it look very untidy[this post was last edited: 7/29/2013-06:50]

took a tip from Beko1987 here and used the paper plate screw chart, I honestly don't know why Electrolux used different screws for everything, I assume is so if the user took it apart them may get stuck and would have had to contact Electrolux to get it serviced more money for them

The early 500 models from the early 70's had different colour bases to the bag holder, sort of a yukky green colour, and when I first got mine I thought it was a mix of 2 different machines. Having seen an old catalogue pic from the early 70's, I know now that this was how they came.
The rubber bump strip round the base is prone to perishing on these though, and mine is no exception, but hey, its older than my Senior Ranger, and I've always said, it was so futuristic in the early 70's and really stood out from the usual soft bag types that were so common back then.

Looking again at yours, I don't think its got the original bag holder casing, as on the 500, the trim only went halfway down the front of the housing, and also, the door latch was metal and silver coloured on the early 500's. The trim carried on down to the bottom on the later 502 models, that's probably why its a different shade of cream to the handle assembly. I'd say yours is a mix of a 500 motor housing and handle, but with the bag compartment from a 502S.

The below pic shows a 502S with your bag compartment, a 500 and a 560

"I believe my bag housing is that off a 550" No, if it were the clip would say "550" not "Super Suction" as on the 502S models.

Great vacuum cleaner though and fantastic restoration. Good to see another quality machine restored to full working order for many more years to come.

I stand corrected, it was the 560 that had the model number on the door catch. Yes your bag compartment could be from a 550.

It turned out well, didn't it?

But oh my god, my leg got SO dirty from that bloody carbon dust coated motor! Lol, at least I managed to sort out the bearings :)

I hope a remedy can be found for the relentless bag full whistle!!!...The song "whistle while you work" might be quite fitting. Lol!
