"Tbh i find with a lot of cylinders that if they're overpowered, they don't tend to do a particularly good job on carpets because the floor tool sticks." That is very true.
With a brand new bag and clean filters my '08 JMB SC1056 1400W sticks to the floor like glue. No variable power so I just have to put up with it until the bag starts to fill slightly and the suction drops.
If I put the Tango on the carpet setting (750W) with an empty bag it is just the same, yet on the Economy setting with 100W less it is perfect.

Ryry, despite the lower model number, the 154 was one of the newest slimines. It was an exclusive line available in several colour schemes, all with plastic tools. There was a 174 as well, same colour as yours there. That one in blue belonging to Turbo500 was available as a 154. I would be interested to know what the model of that one is.

my mum had the brown 154 after my nans junior 1012 gave up the ghost and the two of the turbos died (my mum is very good at killing vacuums) it was a good vacuum and powerfull as well, mum hated the flip over tool that came with it so for a while she used the two way dusting brush on the upholstery side to clean the carpets, because it had the little rubber inserts it used to pick up the dog hairs quite well, she then went and bought a new floor tool the same as was on the vax121, when that died she bought the 1185 slimline electronic this was a light blue with cord rewind bag full indicator and variable power from 250w to 800w the hose end and extensions were better on this one as they were longer and the clip for the two way dusting brush on the back of the handle, but once again she hated the flip over floor tool so she bought anothe black one then that only lasted a year before it gave up and she went back to the the hoover turbo's ic ould understand them dieing if she didnt look after them but she always changed bags and filters oh well when she bought a kirby that only lasted 18 months lol

i dont understand how mums and nans can kill vacuums like that my mum is still kinda doing it now lol like yours my mum uses her twin turbo but only upstairs now she has a dc04 for downstairs because of the dog hair when she was using her old turbo she would fill the bag in 2 days ho hum there is no accounting for taste by the way ryan your powerplus looks fan f*%&£^g tastic

how people on this forum can be so ready to jump down someone's throat for making the most innocuous of statements simply based on personal experience and personal opinion, when no one is being judged or called names? Some people here, it would appear, are in serious need of medication. I think some are looking to pick fights because they can say things here they would not have the bollocks to say within arm's length. This is not a grammar school playground. Not everything that makes one bristle was said with that intent in mind. Just get over it, already.

Ultimately, does it really matter though who does what in life? As this thread has highlighted, one can be offended by anything if one looks for something to be offended by. For every woman who may be offended by the advert you mention Sebofan, there is probably a man who thinks it is still appropriate. Heaven knows I know a good deal of women of a generation who might think it is appropriate. Sometimes I think that people think too hard about things.

Well, if it wasn't for the internet that brings videos, information, research etc, I don't think many people would think as much. We'd all be back at our local Hoover shop spending a fortune on consumables and not really thinking if we could source a different way that would be cheaper at cost.
