How rare is a Electrolux Marquis Model 1521 in Taupe/sand?

That would be a very common American Electrolux model. Personally, though, I would pass on it unless the dealer replaces the hose on it. Chances are it's a leaky hose & it would need replacing soon, plus the dealer probably hasn't done much to "refurbish" it other than to turn it on, make sure it works, & put a price tag on it.

Yes, it's a mass-produced item, thus not rare. The purchasing decision should come down to price, especially since you'll likely be adding on the cost of a vinyl replacement hose sooner or later.

Nope......I have three or four whole machines, and who knows how many parts machines! They’re good cleaners, but that braided hose won’t last too long unfortunately. IF it’s holding air right now (and that’s a BIG if), it will start leaking very shortly after you begin using it! Based on your photograph, I’m making the assumption it’s in a vacuum shop for sale. As others have stated, try to work a deal on a vinyl hose for it, or use that as a negotiating point on the price tag. I’ve not priced one of these lately, but just guessing, I’d say they’re asking close to $200 or more for the machine.....

As another negotiating tactic to consider if they won't budge on the price, you might want to see if you can get them to throw in the other tools that would have originally come with it like the crevice tool, combo upholstery tool/dusting brush, the flippy floor tool and the non-electrified metal wands. They're inexpensive accessories but they do tend to add up when purchased a la carte. They may not have the actual ones that came with that unit but they can probably scrounge around in the back and come up with a complete set, even if the colors don't all match.

I drove all the way there and upon closer inspection seen the back of it didn't match. So he plugs it up and the power nozzle doesn't work, but the canister sounds good. So for 70 dollars I got this one and a Silverado canister with power nozzle. He swapped the cord winders from the Silverado to the marquis. I switched them back and Silverado works good. I will eventually find a cord winder that works I think. I don't know much about the metal bodied cord winders.

$70 isn't a bad deal for the two machines. Have fun fixing them up.
