This is a perfect example of the high quality engineering that Electrolux put into their vacuum cleaners. I have owned several of these 1205's and a couple of the 1205 Golden Jubilee models! I tore down and completely rebuilt one of these 1205's for a co-worker and they are so easy to work on, and a testament to how overbuilt these vacs were! I had that machine purring like a kitten when I put it back together! Now I'm going to have to go to my storage building and dig my NIB 1205 out!
P.S. the photos I have included are of a 1205 Golden Jubilee that my 6 year old daughter and I restored together. It's certainly a more "unique" piece. Since I let her decide what all we did to it, I call it Kerri's Jubilee! LOL!

L o L ..this is a very unique machine !!! How are you doing? I would love to see more of your collection ! You have a NIB 1205?!!! No way! I agree that the workmanship that was put into these machines are like no other . I love 
them

These are great machines, I have one as well, well built and a great motor sound. It's very hard to find quality like that anymore in our dispose and replace society. Vacuums like the 1205 were made to last for decades, and the fact that so many of them still work is proof of the quality that they have.

Do you know the story of the 1205? How it came to be? It is very interesting.

In the early 1970's (1971 or 1972), Consumer Reports rated the 1205 as the top performing canister vacuum cleaner. If I remember correctly, its power nozzle helped to produce excellent carpet cleaning along with other high test results....when compared with other canisters tested at the time.

I know it came out after the Swedish Electrolux company allowed their minority holdings with the American Electrolux company to be sold to Consolidated foods. At that point, the Swedish Electrolux company was pretty much out of the vacuum market in North America until 1974 when they purchased Eureka. At this point, Electrolux developed the 1205 model which made some advancements compared to the model G. It eliminated the pigtail cord on the hose, when plugging in the hose to the machine, the electrical connection was also made, although the model L continued to use the pigtail hose. Again, if there is more of a story, I would love to know. They are great machines, the one I got at the 2016 vacuum convention is working great and is very happy here.

Great to hear legit stories of any Elux model! I have three 1205's if you count the one I gave my son. Greg just supplied me with another.
I like the color scheme and the updates from the G. I don't think it's as well made as the G, but brought Elux USA into the modern vac age.
I can't imagine not owning a 1205 and the matching PN. I might even have a matching polisher for them. The plastic weave hoses are gorgeous.

1205 models were my first love...
I have always been fascinated by the Electrolux, particularly the 1205 models. Here's a pic of my mint 1205, Super J, and two Silverado's (one of them my Great grandmother's). I have yet to find a mint Olympia.

I'm a big fan of the metal Electrolux canisters also and have an assortment similar to yours but not quite as minty fresh, except perhaps for my Diamond J. They are beautiful examples of the extreme engineering that went into many household appliances in the 20th century, back when they qualified as durable goods instead of consumables. The fact that so many of them are still in circulation decades after they were built is a testament to their quality.
