Hey
I recently bought a electro hygiene 980 off eBay. This is the sister vacuum to 888. I recently sold adapter for the vacuum to Jeff. He told me about this vacuum. I am still waiting for it. It has the 400 watt motor, belt lifter, hose, and the only seen a mini bag for the portable version.
The mini bag is it basically a royal prince bag?

Really

The mini bag for electro hygiene and royal is it similar to a handvac royal prince?
If you are having trouble look for the question mark. The question mark is usually preceded by a question. Is there a question in my post?
Les
BTW all pics were suppose to be in one post.

"--mini bag--similar to--Prince--?"

No.Closer to older straight suction hand vac.Though not as well known Royal could do almost everything Kirby could.

Les very cool, congrats on a desirable find, I'm envious! nice pick up off ebay there!!
To my eyes, that smaller bag looks larger than a Prince 501 handheld....I have a few so thats what I'm going by.

go easy on luxflairguy, he was correct, we didn't read a question in your post because nothing was asked.... you just mistakenly, I assume, added a question mark at the end of a statement as opposed to " IS....The mini bag is it basically a royal prince bag?"

Ya

Im sorry to luxflairguy. The first post didn't upload all the pics. It would be easier to read in one I could have edited it but I didn't think at the time.

Kelton

Thanks for the info on the bag. I have never seen a mini bag before.
Does the portable Royal have something for the handle?
Thanks
Les

I've never seen a Royal upright convert to a portable or semi hand held. I"d LOVE to confirmation on this...and if so, I"d want one!!!!! sorry I can't offer more

"--semi hand held."

Unplug handle cord from short cord at motor, loosen wing nut, remove upright handle, remove bag.Add portable cord with inline switch to short motor cord, lock handle yoke in lowest position, insert black portable handle, connect portable bag(these parts shown in pictures above).Add hose and attachments.

Bey

Thanks for info.
I got the vacuum today. It's in pretty good shape. I was busy all night so tommorow hopefully I'll get setup and take pics.
Thanks rug sucker for very detailed directions.

Les,

Glad to hear it finally arrived! Kelton is right, the mini-bag is larger than a 501 bag. The portable handle is the black hook shaped piece next to the upholstery nozzle in the picture. Jimmy is correct with his description of the procedure to switch it over. You can also use it with the rug nozzle instead of the hose, similar to a hand vac. Quite handy for cleaning stairs in this setup. I think you'll really enjoy this versatile machine.

Thanks

Thanks Jeff for showing it to me. The main red vacuum bag is in like new condition. I got 10 royal type a bags. The brush roll had a bit of hair but the hair kept out the dirt. This is indeed a versatile vacuum. I have a 400 watt royal and it's so quiet. This is quiet too and unlike 1976 400 watt royal it has the scent chamber.
I really like the belt like the belt lifter and removable nozzle. It's in great shape and I will enjoy it.
Thanks again
Les

Compact mode

Hey I finally figured out the compact motor I attached the small cord with the inline power on I'll switch I put the small bag on I put the hose on and switched out the light for LED and that's what's in the picture and return

Allison noticed it on the wheels I have little covers and those are for the lake road renovators at the Kirby has. I don't think it fits my 980 but the 888 royal nozzle I have it fits. I don't have the polish brush but I have every other attachment. I have an 888 manual somewhere.
I'm having issues with installing a new belt and getting the belt lifter to install belt.
If anyone has instructions on belt installation it would be appreciated.

Les,

Now that you've posted pics, I see that the covers on the wheels are just what I thought, for use on shag carpet, so you could clean and groom it without matting it down. They were optional and you could buy them for the front wheels, back wheels, or all four. A spiral brush roll was also available.
Also, when you set it up in compact or hand vac mode, you should lock your handle yoke in the lowest position. Makes it easier to carry.

Hey

I realized after I took the pic. I only have 2 wheel covers. I'm wondering if and disposable bags fit in small bag.
The belt lifter is tricky. The old belt was worn but I have a brand new belt.
The Kirby's in portable mode are much heavier and no brush roll. I'm going to pop the fan off and check for Kirby cakes in motor housing. It's a little loud but it's so cool.
