I just had a glance at the UK Dyson site: they seem to have re-introduced two cleaners that I thought were on their way out (or have I mis-read the situation?).

The cleaners are the DC15 upright, and the DC11 cylinder. I thought they had been superceded by newer, more capable models.

Could they be excess stock from other countries that have been re-worked and dumped upon Joe Bloggs, UK Public?

I noticed this too...I don't know where they've come from, but it's certainly odd that they've reappeared. I can't believe their tactic for getting rid of excess stock of the DC15 is to price it ABOVE the DC25, when the 25 is vastly superior to the 15 in every way! Lighter, more powerful, more durable, much tidier design...

I'll try and get an answer from Dyson about why the 11 and 15 have risen from the dead!

By the way, the DC27 will be launching in the UK later this month, after a lengthy delay since February, when it was meant to be coming out.

We in Australia have always had the DC15 priced at $999... When the DC25 was released @ $849 it was marked as the replacement for the DC18 (which was $899).

I have always found the 15 to be a stronger cleaner than the 25.

I noticed the DC11 and DC15 on the Dyson website too. I have renewed my interest in Dyson cleaners and have recently purchased a DC24 and DC18. I would like to fill the gaps in my collection and would like a DC15 and DC11, but not at the prices on the Dyson website. The DC15 is still available from a number of online retailers from around £220.

I buy many cleaners from Littlewoods Direct as I get discount from there and found it odd that the DC27 Animal is in the sale, despite it never being available. Jack, it's good to hear that they will be launching it soon and hope that despite the pictures, it has a separate brush roll motor like the US version.

Littlewoods have also just got in the DC07 Animal, DC07 All Floors and DC18 All Floors. I thought all these models were discontinued. I'm getting a DC07 in a couple of weeks to add to my Dyson collection. I am also interested in a DC16 Animal, only because I have a voucher for a free tool kit when you buy any DC16.

I like the Dysons I have, but they do feel less well built than some cleaners and I wish Dyson would reduce the noise level of their machines. The DC18 and 24 seem quieter than the DC14 I used to own, but they still make quite a racket.
James Dyson needs to stop playing with his balls and design quiet cleaners.

Hi Roger, unfortunately, the UK DC27 just has the standard DC07/DC14-style 'All Floors' clutch, not the separate brush-bar motor. It's really just part of the continuous improvement of the basic upright design, based on customer feedback from the DC14. Dyson are really pushing the Ball design - that's their main focus. The DC27 is just for traditionalists who want wheels! It doesn't really seem to offer much in the way of new technology - no DDM, no Core Separator, no 'Airmuscle', etc...

Dyson's army of design-engineers have moved the pre-motor filter again; it was down beside the motor on the DC01, on top of the bin on the DC04, by the motor on the DC07, on top of the bin in the DC14, and now it's back down beside the motor - they can't seem to make their minds up!

I now have 17 Dysons in my collection:

Dyson DC01 Antarctica Solo (Ltd. edition of 100,000)
Dyson DC02 Recyclone (Ltd. edition of ???)
Dyson DC02 Clear (x2)
Dyson DC02 Antarctica Solo (Ltd. edition of 100,000)
Dyson DC02 De Stijl (Ltd edition of 20,000)
Dyson DC03 Clear (x2)
Dyson DC04 ConstantMAX
Dyson DC05 Motorhead
Dyson DC07 Low Reach+ HEPA
Dyson DC07 Origin
Dyson DC07 'Clic' Ltd. Edition
Dyson DC08T Carpetpro +Allergy
Dyson DC14 Origin
Dyson DC18 Slim +Allergy
Dyson DC24 All Floors

Only the DC07 Origin and DC24 All Floors have been mine since new, the rest are second-hand eBay purchases. It's so funny that some people have begun to associate me with Dyson more than Hoover, when I have 17 Dysons and nearly 60 Hoovers! Just shows what an impression the Dysons make!

Noise

I quite agree - the noise from Dysons is unbearable. I wish they would reduce the noise levels, as I suspect the noise is of a level to permanently damage hearing.

When I had a DC07, I found it left my ears ringing whenever I used it.

Jack.... I agree... It is weird about the movement of said filter... I do actually prefer it out of the cyclone assembly.

Also... Your Recyclone... In JD's last version of the autobiography they had not (to that date) released the Recyclone... And they were about to release a limited edition of 400... Yup... Its limited :)

Rolls_Rapide I have not had that problem with any of my Dysons... I will however strongly agree that the DC07 makes an awful noise... The way the cyclones are designed is the problem... However it was my second best performer (My best being my DC04WOC)

I have 13 Dysons in my collection including:

DC01 Classic
DC02 Absolute
DC03 Absolute
DC04 WOC (With Out Clutch)
DC05 Classic
DC05 Motorhead
DC12 Alergy
DC15 SY
DC16 BZ-MH
DC18 STB
DC21 ANZ/PL/MH
DC22 Ir/Ti/Pl/MH
DC24

The only ones I have had new are the DC05 Classic, The DC12 Allergy & DC21 ANZ/PL/MH

Hi Shannon,

I've known for a long time that the Recyclone was a rare, limited-production model, and I was aware of the figure of 400 given in 'Against the Odds' (like the Fabulous Dustpan, I've read it cover to cover many times!!). However, I was shocked that the total production figure in its entirety could be so small. I've asked for confirmation, both from Dyson, and people I'd consider to be Dyson experts (I ALWAYS double-check my facts!), and my question has always been ignored or brushed away, giving me the impression that the Recyclone total-production figure is a closely-guarded secret! For that reason, I hesitated to put '(Ltd. edition of 400)', in case they made more of them than stated in the book.

I did read that a museum bought a mint Recyclone for a VERY large sum, so perhaps there's a concious effort to hide the number to keep the value up?

I do know that when Sir James' Personal Assistant went to look for a copy of the original manual (printed on recycled paper) to go with mine, she could only find one copy within the whole of the Malmsbury archives, which naturally they couldn't give away!

I have no strong preference about where the pre-motor filter is located, but I guess having it in the base of the machine keeps the height and weight of the cyclone assembly down!

I agree Dysons aren't the quietest cleaner in the world, but to call them 'unbearable' seems to be to be a slight exaggeration. I guess it comes down to personal tolerance, but I find them to be within perfectly acceptable noise boundaries. The only cleaner I've ever had that hurt my ears was my Oreck XL, which was both deafeningly loud and high-pitched.

There is a huge about of difference between the noise of different variants of Dyson models - my DC07 Origin makes a real 'howl' - and it's entirely due to the cyclone assembly. Take it off, and it runs very quietly. But my DC07 Clic is very quiet. I was thinking of doing a video to demonstrate this anyway, but since the issue's come up on here, I'll make sure I do one tomorrow to show what I mean.

Here are a few pics of my Dysons...
