Dyson V6 Total Clean review

Hi guys..... so many things to reply to......

Firstly Tayyab..... I had an older version DC41 a while back and wasn't too keen. It generated a LOT of heat and had so much suction that the hose kept collapsing in on itself. I sold it on when it was only a few months old. The new versions are so much better. They don't generate the heat and the new brush head grooms carpets superbly. The new versions seem to have less 'flex' to the spine and handle area I feel.

Spec wise the new DC41 and the DC55 are identical. Difference being that the DC55 is a different colour and comes with more tools. The DC55 is also exclusive to DSG retail group and Dyson's online store.

Personally for me I wanted the DC55 Total Clean as it is the most equipped machine available from Dyson atm in terms of optional extras.

As other memebers have stated, the Cinetic machine has a much bigger ball making it less nimble. Also I think the Cinetic design is a disaster in the making.... they're already cropping up with failed motors due to them letting so much dust into the motor.

I'd rather have a filter to wash and be able to vacuum up builders dust if I so wish without fear of it ruining the machine.

HenryDreyfuss... We get the V6 absolute in the UK but it doesn't come with the Fluffy head. I can live without the HEPA filter though as the standard filtration is so good. My filter still looks like new and I've cleaned up some filth with it.

I've noticed the issue with fluff building up on the shroud too. However my filter sits in nice and tight so no issues of that coming loose.

Dysonman1.... thanks for the compliment :)
It's a full sleeve. It wasn't intended to be though. Started off as one single star on my elbow and kept on growing. Because of this it's a pretty basic design.... nothing intricate about it, but its too late for regrets now haha
Eventually I want to start on building much more artistic and intricate things on my other arm.... Next thing on the list is an image of a woman drowing to go with a verse I've already got. I thank you for your compliment though... I had someone make a very negative comment about my sleeve arm a while ago and it kinda made me somewhat unsure / insecure about it.

I'll add a few pics of it as it has grown. Most of the pics are taken on the days I've had it worked on so they look pretty sore lol I've not really got any pics of it all now that its 'worn in'... the clearest one is probably the pic where the cat is stood my my head. There is also a pic of drunken me being a fool with my boss.... you can see quite a bit of it there too... I'll have to work on getting some clear tattoo pics now that its finished with and healed.

The verse I have is from an Evanescence song - going under - 'Don't want your hand this time I'll save myself, maybe I'll wake up for once, not tormented daily, defeated by you, just when I thought I'd reached the bottom' - personal meaning for me being that if you don't keep fighting in life you'll drown / only you can save yourself ect ect and the image of the woman drowning I want is taken from the video for the song too.

The Beast tattoo is similar to the 'mum' ones you see... Only I call my mum Beast haha hence the Beast tattoo!

Love the ink. And what a great quote from the song. While I don't yet have full sleeves, they are about 80% covered. Even have three that are somewhat related to vacuums. Tats make us unique, they are works of art. Don't ever let anyone say anything negative to you about them. It's your body. I think they're gorgeous. I spent two days have two fighting eagles with swords and shields, facing each other, put across my shoulders and chest for Christmas two years ago.

Purpledefector, it's fine everybody makes mistakes :) and Performance between all the new Dyson are almost the same but I think the kinetic might be better as it's got a slight suction increase as the dc55 and dc41 have 198aw and kinetic has 215aw.

I personally think the kinetic Sciences and it claims a true and I think it will be fine unless the owner uses it on too much plaster dust, and I think the few that have had the dust go through worth faulty and I noticed all the ones that I seen that has been letting through dust were the one particular model the purple one which was the first come out and the problem only seems to affect the first lot of kinetic big ball when they first came out and doesn't seem to affect modeller came out few months after words which was only different colour.[this post was last edited: 12/21/2015-20:09]

Any pics Dysonman1?

And Dys0nb0y.... The Cinetic, DC55 and DC41 range are ALL rated at 120AW according to the Dyson website. The smaller DC40 range is rated at 100AW and the compact DC50 range at 70AW.

So really the only difference between the Cinetic and the DC55/41 is that the Cinetic has an oversized ball and no pre motor filter.

For me personally I'd rather have a filter to wash and be able to vacuum up whatever I want. The Cinetic comes with a warning telling you not to vacuum up any kind of DIY dust or fine powders ect making it a totally unsuitable machine for me.

I'll include two video links.... fair enough the Kode bloke has been over filling his machine at times.... but I've overfilled mine before too and it hasn't ruined the machine like it has his.....

Sadly I'm not surprised at all

For (Cinetic) science, I cut out and added a small pre-filter to my Cinetic, over the motor inlet. During the short time I used mine, a good amount of fine dust collected on the filter.

If enough people wise-up to this glaring flaw, there's going to be a class-action lawsuit against them, for their deceitful claims of "no filter maintenance." Such a shame. The vacuum has an advanced level-3 root cyclone system, and it's their best yet. With a simple pre-motor filter, they could protect their flagship model. It pisses me off that the DC17 (the original beastly level-3 model) devolved into this trash. This kind of stuff continues to stifle my love of this innovative company. They market this thing (HEAVILY) like it's THE next great thing in vacuums, and it's deceptive. [this post was last edited: 12/22/2015-04:59]

God, Matt, I insult you regularly about your face and generally squalid personality, I didn't think my comments about your scaley-tat would bother you one way or the other :P

Matt8808, it does say that but if you look on Dyson's Website on the phone it will show you the correct aw.

AW and performance

I would expect this is mentioned elsewhere, but AW doesn't directly relate to cleaning performance- it is a measure of pure suction, which is only of relevance for what you feel when you put your hand over the hose.

Flowrate with the tools on the floor is key for pickup (and is rarely quoted!).

There was a recent legal case that Gtech won against dyson where the ruling mentions that dyson's adverts imply AW and pickup are directly linked, and that it's misleading.

It has always been misleading. Air watts is a Dyson marketing word - it stands above the call of actual performance because it reinforces the old promise of 100% suction all the time and it was continually used as a measure alongside the claims that Dyson made.

There's a lot of truth in this video even if it is a push for central vac system.
