My friend has a dc07 from home shopping channel, a few years now, he says it only has one filter to clean. Is this true? I have never seen one of these machines.

Indeed this is true, the pre-motor filter is located down the side on the DC07. It should be washed every 6 months under cold water, and then left to dry for 24 hours or until it's COMPLETELY bone dry.

The post motor filter should never be washed, I would replace it every few years, though the HEPA ones I believe are designed to last 10 years I think.

Hope this helps! :)

that's the thing, he says he can only find one filter! They have animals so I would imagine any other filter can't be too good after years. Will tell him to look again.

There is a HEPA Filter located underneath the canister, you will need 3 tabs to open or 1 front tab with a flat blade screwdriver. The filter is supposed to last the lifetime of the machine, however it can restrict airflow with the carbon dust blocking the pores, so it is healthy for a clean air vacuum to have clean filters. A seal also helps filter better. These can be bought on eBay.
