Dyson DC50

But how does it compare?

I don't see an airwatt rating on it, i'm curious if it's like the DC24 which was significantly weaker than the other models or if this is comparable to the others in terms of airflow/ suction. The two tier cyclones look...weird almost like some mad experiment.

Its got 140 Airwatts, which is not that high - but the DC24 has a 100 AW rating, so the DC50 is slightly more powerful. The DC07 had 280 AW so the DC50 is only half as powerful as the DC07 was.
Suction power isnt everything though, and many people complain that the higher the suction power the harder the cleaner is to push around.
The DC50 only has a bin size of 0.8 Litres, so this is actually very slightly smaller than that of the DC24 at 0.85 litres.

Whilst I think its quite a nice and dinky looking model, its very expensive still.

Noticed the mini turbo tool has different rotors that spin in a different way to the conventional brushroll type.

Specs for the DC50 are below in the link:

140

Thank you for finding that number. I"m aware that airflow is more important for the removable of deeply imbedded soils. I like to look at the airwatt rating because it kind of gives me an idea of how strong it is compared to what i have.

.......

AAAH i have to have one!!!!!!! the 2-tier cyclone looks kinda silly. im sure it will grow on me!!
but for now my DC25 will have to do....
by the way looking at that price i'd rather have a dc24...
also that 'carbon fibre' floor head doesn't actually work that well, i've seen them in currys and i've tried them on the DC35 and they fail to pick up anything- th opposite of what they are designed to do...

Well it looks like Dyson has decided to copy the innovative Panasonic beltless brushroll with the internal motor! Hmmm.... I guess copying is the nicest form of flattery! Wonder how the two brushrolls would compare in a "head to head" competition.

Dyson ought to do a little more copying of ideas that work...

I'm waiting on the Dyson contra-rotating - double brush roll version.

All those cyclones and the end result is...

...mediocre suction. Oh dear.

Even the cylinder DC47 only has 180 air watts!

I was hoping that the Two Tier cyclones might be a second and third level of separation. Sadly not.

And still not a digital motor to be seen...
