Very good Tayyab! Not a big fan of the DC07s as I used to be, since getting my DC04 the 04s are much nicer to use. Dual Cyclone separates about 80% of the dust anyways, so it's all good!

Still think that you next addition should Hoover Turbopower 1, like a Junior U1426 (like mine) or a basic hardbag one (such as a U1050).

The DC04 is nice to use yes, the main problem I find with the DC07 is its extreme noise, which is made louder by the external cyclones that point upwards - de-rooted ones are even louder. The DC04 is much quieter than the DC07 unless the brushroll housings are worn which is worse on the clutchless models.
Most clutched models of older Dc07's and all DC04's will now need clutch belt replacements though as the old belts stretch over time and the brushroll will end up slowing up or stopping altogether when used on carpet. People don't think about this when buying old Dyson uprights with clutches, and replacing the clutch belts is a complicated task, especially the belt from the clutch to the brushroll.

Steve: I got this from eBay from a seller who said it been serviced regularly, it had a blocked filter tho, and the tools are supposed to be green, yes but mine has a silver stair tool, a grey crevice tool, and a dc04i or absolute+ dusting brush

Tim: Thanks! Why not tho? I find DC07's to be excellent vacs but the DC04 wand is a bit crap tbh, and the DC07 needs to be stronger, like the DC14

Tayyab, a DC04 is not crap. I personally prefer the DC04 to he DC07, and I know quite a lot of people who will agree that the DC04 is much more pleasant to own and use. Mostly down to the DC07's ear splitting noise.

Hey, Joe and Parwaz - who will get to 1000 posts first? I hit the milestone the other week. Got a fair way to go to beat Jmurray01 though who natters on and on and Ariston..........

I don't really see it as a race to be honest, quality matters, not quantity!

LOL Steve! :]
Joe: I love DC04's, I like them better than DC07s but I dont like the wand of the DC04 because its got an annoying wand cap

Well, Tayyab, DC04s aren't crap. I know many that use them pretty much everyday. For example, my youth worker and the local youth club has a DC04 Yellow 'brush control' and she loves it. She and her husband bought it brand new in 2002 i think. Had one service and that's it. Not bad going :)

The 04 is a great piece of design, much better than the DC07, and 200-220AW will be fine for me! Wand cap can be annoying but i haven't had a problem with mine.

NOW FOR SOME SCIENCE!

The DC07, whilst having a greater level of dust seperation with 7 cones and the outer cyclone, makes the noise level increase and the cyclone unit itself bulky. The smaller cyclones makes the G-Forces increase, thus better seperation. However, at the small opening end of the cone it's more likely to clog as the dust is 'spat' out from being seperated.

I like the DC04 better than the Dc07, its just that the wand cap is annoying, the end of the wand is near the handle which means its dirty, and its not nice, Dc14 is much better, and the Dc07 has more power thats all, other than that the Dc07 is crappy, not a practical design, DC04 is MUCH better though it dont have the tremendous suction that a DC07 has

The DC14s are allright vacs. However, My 14 Animal is loud, not as a loud as an 07. It does the job though and I like it. But for a study vacuum, that has to go to an all steel Numatic such as an NVQ250 or an NV250, can't beat those Tayyab i'm afraid!

TBH Henry would have been a fantastic machine, they are pretty much indestructible everywhere apart from the hose, even a DC08 has a stronger hosecuff, and also the swivel neck joint can snap off when you try to remove the stiff thing from the wand, the bucket could do with being stronger and the rewind is a bit annoying to rewind or maybe its cos im lazy

We had a customer recently who brought her DC07 she bought from us back because of an "ear splitting noise" it was making.

We plugged it in and tried it. I asked her "When does it make the noise?"

She said, "Well, that's it! Can't you hear it?"

The machine sounded perfectly normal.

I don't think they are so noisy. But then again, maybe I am used to them.

Hmm, Has her DC07 got the later de-rooted cyclone with the large holes at the top? Those are well noisy

I've never really noticed the difference in noise levels between the two cyclone types to be honest. I'll compare now you have mentioned it.
