Dyson DC01

VacuumLand – Vintage & Modern Vacuum Enthusiasts

Help Support VacuumLand:

Brilliant!

Good news.

Do you intend to unbox it and have the pleasure of using it for the first time or do you plan to save it for another day?

I bought a brand new Turbomaster some years back and had the pleasure of being its first person to use it. Awesome feeling!

Brilliant Josh - I'm really pleased for you to have got it - it'll be staying within the vacuumland community. You got it for an excellent price as well!

I'm sure you will look after it and put some pics of it on when you get possession of it!

What's fun about keeping a vacuum cleaner in it's box? Guys they are meant to be USED! I thought collecting vacuum cleaners was about finding the models you like, restoring them and caring for them whilst using them at your own personal leisure. A hobby is meant to be a recreational and leisurely activity and there is nothing leisurely and fun about keeping a vacuum cleaner that you spent your own money on in it's box.

Joshua if you want to use your DC01 at your own freewill then do so, it is yours to enjoy. Don't listen to this crap about keeping it in the box and not turning it on. It's hardly as if Dysons are collectibles anyway as they have only been around for two decades and they are modern. I know for a fact that I will never collect a Dyson. They lack character to me. Anyway please cast off your shackles and enjoy your vacuum cleaner, I guarantee that it will still be a collector's piece after you have switched it on. Some people have such a nerve on this forum. I have a Hoover Hooverette from 1961 in good condition and I use it, nobody as ever got on to me about it because it is meant to be.

Please enjoy your Dyson Joshua and best wishes, James.

If Josh merely wanted to buy a DC01 to use - he would have got a cheap £30 jobbie. Josh has spent hundreds of pounds on this Dyson because it is new and he wants to keep it that way.

Whats to say that in another 20 years, when the DC01 design is 40 years old, that his new DC01 with no usage at all wouldn't be worth a lot of money?

Vacuums can be an investment as well as something just to use as a daily driver.

Steve, you don't know what Joshua wants to do with his DC01 and if he does want to use it please refrain from being so rude and interfering to get in his way from doing what he wishes. It was not your money he spent so wind your neck in and leave well alone what is nothing to do with you. Whether Josh wants to throw his DC01 off a cliff it's up to him. Josh can do what he likes so leave him alone and give the guy some space. Oh and Dysons are not going to be worth much in the future because they are tacky, uncharacteristic bits of plastic that are actually more unreliable than what they claim to be.

Steve please keep in mind I do not tolerate rude behaviour.

James.

Do what you want---but ANY vacuum, gun, camera, light, tool, etc I buy comes out of its box to be tried and USED.I bought the item to be USED---not just sit in its box.If you aren't going to use it-don't buy it.

At the end of the day Josh paid HIS or his parents money for that cleaner and its ultimately HIS OR THEIR choice as to what they do with it.

Only we would be warranted a grievance if it was being abused and openly shown on this website.

I have no idea why busybody comments are being made, second time in 2 days theres been meddling where its not wanted from the same person.

We are all free to offer opinions and experience but to forcefully make people feel they shouldnt be doing something they dont want to is uncalled for.

Josh like its been said before, its entirely upto you or your parents whether you use this new dyson or not.

If you dont want to use it then good and fine its YOUR choice.

Its a great feeling to unbox and use a brand new cleaner ive done it myself. Its an experience to savour and really enjoy the moment. You paid your monies now do what YOU want to do with it.

Rob

Turbomaster1984, and Supermatic james, I don't tolerate nasty, rude and ignorant comments either - which is why I've reported both of you to the webmaster. If you cant say anything decent - don't post at all, because I'm not having it. Every time you do it, it'll be reported until you learn that I'm not gonna be bullied about.

Sorry but...

which is why I've reported both of you to the webmaster --- I really don't see anything rude here. Certainly not worth having to break the glass and pull the mark thread as offensive lever.

Congratulations Joshua on your new machine! I found a 1962 GE Washer, never ever been plugged in or hooked up to water. It still sits in my basement collection unused as every once in a while I get to open the lid and take a big sniff of what a brand new washer smelled like in the early 60's.

I do plan to use the machine someday, but not until I'm older. Maybe in my 60's or 70's. I want to savor it's unused-ness for a while.

yes im im nosey in I DONT GIVE A FU#K OK

Why thanks MrParwaz - unfortunately there are some very rude and unpleasant characters on Vacuumland who think they are really important when they are nothings who have nothing nice to contribute. The best way to avoid having to read the bile they spew is to block them, using the hide posts feature. Mr Supermatic James knows nothing about Vacuumland, he has next to no postings here, so I suggest very politely that he clears off back to where he came from, and takes his arrogant and balshy attitude with him, because his comments are not wanted here.

You're the best - Tina Turner

Citroen - they can try to bully people they don't like off vacuumland all they want - many have tried - just stay strong and fight them back, let them know that you aint standing for their comments.

Many people have slagged me off on Vacuumland, but they get it back in return. Don't let the bullies win. If they think hooverland, or whatever groups are better, then let them go there and be happy, instead of bitching about how wonderful vacuumland used to be. most of them hardly ever post here anyway, so they are no great loss, and nor are their comments.
