Very impressive and that collection can only appreciate in value as time passes!
I always look at the old DC01's now as these are the ones to get in good condition. The DC01 was the original Dyson that made James a very rich man - it would have either made or broke him, but people took to it. I didnt like it at first, but the design does grow on you!
I believe the first ones were called the DA001, and didnt feature the DC01 logo. They were made before the Malmesbury factory was built, and had the original Dyson logo rather than the one we all know today. They were just called the Dyson Dual Cyclone - the DC01 name came later.
Strictly speaking, the DC label should have finished by the time the DC07 came out, as this was not a Dual Cyclone machine, but the name DC seems to have stuck.
The DAS was a limited edition model like the DeStijl, and was so commemorate the Atlantic crossing I think - hence Dyson Atlantic Solo (DAS) name
The DC01 changed a lot between 1993 and the launch of the DC04 - its successor.
Tools changed, the head was fixed on early 01's and swivel on the later ones and I think the hose changed as well.
It was the only ever dyson that did not have the option of brush control, and also not to have washable pre motor filters. It was also not possible to remove the sole plate for cleaning without a screwdriver, which on subsequent models was changed so all maintenance could be done without any tools.
The Ametek motors used in the DC01 were discontinued for the DC03 and DC04 models, with YDK motors taking over, however for some reason they did re-introduce an Ametek on the DC04 clutchless model only.
Well done on your collection anyway, and the consumables and other memorabilia for the DC01 you own are a great thing to have - I mean, how many people now own an original tub of Zorb powder with the old Dyson logo on it?
