Amazing!

Wow I am soo jel :P I have never seen a destijl dc01 manual before! especially the old dyson dc01 logoed ones, You are so lucky lol i want it, btw does your dc01 have a red soleplate? mine has the grey one instead of red :(

Very impressive and that collection can only appreciate in value as time passes!
I always look at the old DC01's now as these are the ones to get in good condition. The DC01 was the original Dyson that made James a very rich man - it would have either made or broke him, but people took to it. I didnt like it at first, but the design does grow on you!
I believe the first ones were called the DA001, and didnt feature the DC01 logo. They were made before the Malmesbury factory was built, and had the original Dyson logo rather than the one we all know today. They were just called the Dyson Dual Cyclone - the DC01 name came later.
Strictly speaking, the DC label should have finished by the time the DC07 came out, as this was not a Dual Cyclone machine, but the name DC seems to have stuck.

The DAS was a limited edition model like the DeStijl, and was so commemorate the Atlantic crossing I think - hence Dyson Atlantic Solo (DAS) name

The DC01 changed a lot between 1993 and the launch of the DC04 - its successor.
Tools changed, the head was fixed on early 01's and swivel on the later ones and I think the hose changed as well.
It was the only ever dyson that did not have the option of brush control, and also not to have washable pre motor filters. It was also not possible to remove the sole plate for cleaning without a screwdriver, which on subsequent models was changed so all maintenance could be done without any tools.
The Ametek motors used in the DC01 were discontinued for the DC03 and DC04 models, with YDK motors taking over, however for some reason they did re-introduce an Ametek on the DC04 clutchless model only.

Well done on your collection anyway, and the consumables and other memorabilia for the DC01 you own are a great thing to have - I mean, how many people now own an original tub of Zorb powder with the old Dyson logo on it?

Just noticed that your DeStijl model has the DC04 base cone in the tank (with fins) and suffers from the common problem of the bin release catch snapping off on the hepa filter cover - was wondering why the tank has a ring of paper clips surrounding it, and then noticed the catch has snapped off. All adds to the Dyson charm though lol

oh and parwaz yeah it has the grey one, but theres a red one on ebay now that i might get. i'll also look out for a new bin catch.
btw jamie how can you say impressive? i thought your opinions of dysons were, well, lets just say you'd rather have your hoover senior ranger...

And whats wrong with Hoover Rangers? Jamie has very good taste lol. You havent lived unless you've hoovered with a Ranger!
Here's mine:

37 years old and still going strong - I wonder how many Dysons would still be working after 37 years - the oldest DC01 is nearly 20 years old now, so only another 18 years to go lol

hey, hey! i never said they where bad, they are good cleaners, (i know i'll get haters for this!!!!) but i don't really think they are very attractive! btw i agree with yuor point in reply 12

"btw jamie how can you say impressive? i thought your opinions of dysons were, well, lets just say you'd rather have your hoover senior ranger..." I meant an impressive collection, but I'd rather have three Hoover Senior Rangers...
