Hello all,
I've been reading really bad reviews on the Garry. I wouldn't suggest you buy one. Instead consider an Oreck or a Riccar. What do you guys think about the Garry?

Well, around a couple of weeks when I joined this site, I saw the Garry infomercial. I posted a topic about it. Not very good vacuums. I found this comment on their website:

"I have used Kirby, Hoover, and Lectro Lux and I must say this is the best vacuum I have ever owned."

Well, I certainly don't want one of dem Lectro Luxes. :P

VW

Barry Garry Harry Larry etc.

Just a suggestion: don't say the word "don't" in front of "...buy a (insert manufacturer's name here). There may be people on here who either have the vacuum you named, or might (gasp!) want to get one, no matter what others may think.

P.S. I have no opinion whatsoever on the Garry because I've never even seen one, much less used one, and have no particular interest in getting one, but what are the strengths and weaknesses?

Don't buy a Garry

I got one when they first came out. I kept it one day and returned it. I thought the build quality was ok. What I didn't like was the noise level and the brush roll was very soft (like the brush on a turbin nozzle). It was loud like a Hoover Windtunnel and your ears actually hurt after you turned the machine off. The bags looked very similar to the regular (not hepa) Oreck bag.
It was lightweight. They took it back and gave me a refund. It did have nice lights on the front and attached tools.
It was kind of like comparing the Hoover Annniversay canister to a Miele Earth. They may LOOK similar but do not perform at the same level. Not the worst new vacuum I ever bought but not the equal to my Oreck Platinum upright.

Riccar superlite

As a matter of fact i'd rather have a Riccar Superlite over a Garry anyday. So much better qualtiy and from a name you know.

Couldn't have said it better myself...

Thanks Fred

I remember as a kid laughing at a neighbor's car, and my father reprimanded me for making fun of other people's possessions, because they might like the car in question, or that car might be all they could afford in their circumstances, etc. etc. That lesson made a big impact on me.

Aside from that, when I read threads on these forums, I like to see constructive comments, such as Rob's above. I like to know the pros (and yes, cons) of machines I don't know much about, even if I'll never see or get one.

Please go bankrupt

Yes please go bankrupt and fall off the face of the earth as you clearly can't make a quality 8 pound vacuum. Isn't that a shame? It really is....

Bought out by Riccar?

Hello all,
What i think should happen is Garry being bought out by Riccar. Then Riccar can turn the vacuum around and build them with good parts. Remember guys i don't wish any any ANY company to go bankrupt, but i personally feel that is where this company is headed. I'm not sure where thses vacuums are made. All i know is that the internet is filled with complaints. So is Garry going to get bought out by Riccar or is the company going to cut the cheese? I feel that the company should honor the warrenty, and replace the machine without charging two way shipping. Also should honor the free bags for life. I'd like Garry to stick around for awnile as it's a very different 8 pound vacuum, but if the company keeps this up there won't be no more Garry. So what do you guys think is going to happen to them? I'd like your feed back.

Unless they have you sign a contract subscribing you to such a plan, this is illegal in the most consumer-friendly way possible - you get to keep the bags for free.
