Welp

I want one... I'm still using a DC16 that works perfectly and a DC31 Animal that gets used everyday. Dyson has disappointed me with all but a couple of its uprights, and the canisters have been even worse, but they really nailed the handhelds.

We have the Dyson DC59 Animal model and since I purchased it at Bed, Bath, and Beyond a few months ago I'm VERY tempted to return it and buy the Motorhead version. I really like the DC59 animal as it does a wonderful job on our wood floors and wool area rugs. It doesn't do so hot on our wall to wall carpeting in the bedrooms but that's not where it's supposed to shine. IT has a great run time so long as you don't use it on max.
I agree with the comments above regarding their current upright line up--- I'm not the biggest fan of the Dyson DC41 so I'm about to return it as well. The last Dyson upright I had that I really thought was good was the DC17 Absolute. That thing was a beast! Now that I primarily just use my central vac with hide-a-hose I really just need a lightweight, bagged upright (that doesn't stink) to run through the wall-to-wall areas where the Turbocat seems kind of wimpy!

Would the brushroll on this Dyson not scratch finished flooring as it spins? And wouldn't the brushes transfer any sticky goo and leftover soap residue from a bare floor to the carpet afterward?

I always thought the bristles that sweep floors should never be used on carpets....no?

It is but the nylon brushes still spin with the carbon fibre brushes on the hard floors! As they are part of the same brush bar. My concern is the V ball at the back and the small rollers underneath the head are hard plastic so potentially could scratch hard floors especially if grit etc get caught up in them!

You can

Out fit them with the swiveling floor tool. My dc59 animal came with the floor tool some other tools and a tote bag.
