VacuumLand – Vintage & Modern Vacuum Enthusiasts

Help Support VacuumLand:

While an item is only worth what someone would pay, I have seen people list them on eBay for up to $1000. Many people are quite optimistic. You would have to find a buyer for non-electric cleaners first. Many (most?) of us do not collect non-electric cleaners. Finding a buyer is the hard part.

I agree....

you have to find the market to get your price. Yrs ago somebody gave me a little pocket gun made in the 1800's. It's in good, shootable shape, although anyone would be daft to shoot it. In an antique gun price book, it's a first run model. It lists for $700+ in the condition it's in. I had it as low as $500 in a national gun market mag. Not even one bite. No doubt if the right person knew, it would sell easily.....but like in the non-electric vacuum, you've got to find those people.

That looks like a Doty

I've got one in very good condition. Just need to
re-sheath the hose between the nozzle and dustbin.

I got mine off Craigslist for $60 + shipping.

They appear now and then on Ebay for $40 - $100
depending on condition, but they go quick.

Your friend's Doty would require more than a simple
paint job. Even with that, the front label's ruined
which detracts greatly from its value.

Just a personal opinion, if your friend fully restored
it and put it on Ebay, I doubt it would sell for more
than $30 -$50. Most buyers would simply patiently wait
for a Doty that didn't have "issues".
