Hey Guys

Finally got round to changing the bulb on mine and was kinda suprised to find it uses the push in 12v lamp rather than the standard mains pygmy type(Si I know you said yours did lol- wasnt doubting ya really! ;).)

HOWEVER..

The pdf manual I have says to push and twist to remove/fit the lamp!-it also says its 15w so im guessing its refering to a standard pygmy?

Did US market machines all use the standard bulb or did the bulb type change during the run of the DAM?.

As a side note the push in bulb wasnt used in a UK built cleaner until the U1040 flat belt Junior in approx 1979. All our headlamp Seniors continued to use the standard pygmy bulb until the end of production. The Turbopower and Turbomaster obviously used the 12v push in version!.

Ummm

Seamus,
To the best of my knowledge all US made headlight model DAM's were equipped with the push-in-and-twist headlight bulbs, either 15 or 25 watts.
I believe the first push-in bulb cleaner here was the Concept One in 1978.
Shortly thereafter the Convertible switched to the push in bulbs too.

How Strange...

Hey Jeff!

Both mine and Simons Powerdrives are North Canton built :) - mine is September 75 and I believe Si has a slightly later example-77 sometime.

Maybe it has something to do with the voltage difference of export machines, or maybe the factory was trialing the low volt blubs on export machines before introducing them on domestic machines- guess its one of those hard to answer questions!!

Cheers
Seamus
