Well I don't use it EVERY day
I give the house a good vacuuming once a week with it. My place is small so it doesn't take very long. I find that it glides across my carpet pretty smoothly actually and I like that is brushroll is more gentle on carpeting. I steam my carpets twice a year with hot water and white vinegar and I'm always impressed at how clean the Kirby keeps my carpet. The waste-water is nowhere near as murky or cruddy as I expect.
I do get a good workout using it but I wouldn't use anything else. I was raised with a Kirby in every house (parents, both sets of grandparents) and to this day we are all still a Kirby family - my brother even has one. I've converted two friends over as well

using a Kirby everyday?
A Kirby G series requires very little effort to use. With Tech Drive it requires less than 2 lbs. of force to move it back and forth. <span style="font-size: 12pt;">I use a Sentria as my DD and I love it.</span><span style="font-size: 12pt;"> </span>
I have a bad back and I have a bagless Hoover Windtunnel Air which weighs 12 lbs. and after 15 minutes of dragging that Hoover around my home my back is in agony and I must sit down for 10 minutes before I can continue. My Sentria weighs in at 23 lbs. but I can vacuum a full 30 minutes with it which is the amount of time it takes to vacuum my entire home. I could go longer if need be. I love using my Sentria as my DD.

For a daily cleaner a Kirby is too loud, too heavy and too inconvenient, to use attachments is a big hassle and they are very clunky too. need I continue?

Nar, ours are quite heavy. They're proper shag rugs and take a fair amount of effort to move. We don't really have the space to start shaking it outside either.
Agree with Alex, re Kirby's for daily use. Brilliant for deep cleaning large carpeted area's, not so great for day to day vacuuming around furniture.

I seem to swap them around allot. I tend to grab a different one each time. For daily quick cleanups nothing beats my dc62 ( dc 59) I have also been favoring our dc24 animal lately.
I have also been using my G Kirby's but due to the fact that in our multi floored home with Kids and animals you have to plan your cleaning to avoid having to fit and remove the hose two many times they tend to get used on weekends mostly
And yes if you look through the French doors that is a Piglet standing their. She is a tea cup piglet Penelopiggy or other wise known as STIG-lett ( aka TopGear) for here speed when chasing things around. Second picture sleeping infront of the Hoovers at my office

Daily driver is my spare Kirby G5. It suits our three story house wonderfully. Especially with three dogs.
By the way Cory, You have a very nice looking living room. I really love the look of your carpet. It looks very soft.

I keep my carpet vacuumed regularly and shoes off of it! I think it adds warmth to a small home such as mine. I went with a semi-loose knap for easier vacuuming- I love the way my Kirby leaves it looking. I do have ceramic tile in the kitchen, dining , laundry and bathrooms. Your kitchen is beautiful! That vent hood on your oven looks like something from a Sci-fi movie! If only my kitchen were that spacious...

Lately it has been my Rainbow D4 SE and my Century 400 UVac/Sebo X1. The Rainbow is my weekend cleaning vacuum and I use the UVac for the daily vacuuming. I recently received the Rainbow and have fallen in love with it. It is actually very easy to use filling up the pan and emptying the unit. It still surprises me what comes out of the carpet with it.

It's funny Alex how you can form an opinion about a vacuum cleaner you do not have. According to your profile, you only have a Kirby Legend, which does not have Tech Drive, so how do you form an opinion about a Kirby G series that you do not even own. I will ignore your comments since I see you were born in 1994, you're still a kid who doesn't know any better.

I think that's completely uncalled for. Just because somebody is younger than you doesn't make their opinion or experience any less valid. I could call you an ancient old crone who's stuck in the past, but I'm not that rude.
How do you know Alex hasn't owned G series cleaners in the past and sold them on?
I see you only own 5 cleaners and have used 2 brands for the past hundred years - far more limited experience than Alex has had, I can assure you.
1994, so that makes Alex 20 - old enough to work, drive, drink, have sex, own a house, get married etc etc. His opinion counts just as much as yours.

Aside from...
The performance of the machine itself, the Kirby,-to me, has always been fascinating and appealing to me from a visual stand point. I love how it's design today (Avalir) still hardens back to the machine/Industrial Age when modern technology was really starting to take off. Plus, no other machine can take on a complexly different look or beastly personality as the Kirby just by simply powering it up and filling that large magnificent bag with air and hearing that jet engine-like rush of air as it moves through the machine- It lets me know my home is being kept CLEAN!
I do, however, appreciate ALL machines(after all - they were originally designed with one purpose in mind- to make life easier) and I realize every person has their specific reasons for their preference- having such a vast selection to choose from is part of what makes this day and age great a great one to be living in. Just like choosing your vehicle, you can choose whatever you want to fit your needs/wants to make your life easier and more enjoyable... Keep the great pics coming!!!

With Kirbys I think allot has to do with the design of your house and its size aswell as the flooring type. Having young children will aslo affect your Love or loath of it.
When I use my Kirbys at my shop which is 90 % carpet in the showroom and offices excluding a small area of wood flooring Its Lovely. No small toys to get vacuumed up No dust and fur from pets getting stuck around edges Just normal dust. Its a pleasure to use it in the wide open spaces.
At Home on the other hand we have carpet Tile and wooden floors aswell as loose rugs on the tiles. We also Have pets. Now for some reason the cats will get cat litter all over the house far away from were the box is. If its on the carpets its fine But if its on the hardfloors then I have to go and get the pipes out to vacuum around the edges. If I use my dyson I simply pull the pipe out and vacuum then go back to vacuuming the carpets or switch off the brush roll and clean the hardfloors.
Direct air vacuum sare also not so great for handling mistakenly sucked up lego or small toys not to mention trying to get the remains out of the bag.
