In addition to the traditional eight settings from the toe-touch control at the left front wheel, there is also a "Vernier" type adjustment that can be used to lower the nozzle further if the lowest setting of the toe-touch control is not quite low enough.
Both the CVD1300 and CVD1600 use what is described as a "polycarbonate" fan (break-resistant and ultra-durable), which debunks these Lexan/Kevlar suggestions.

What year are these? I have the 1600 and love it, sadly though i'm missing the front belt cover

I have a 1600-was bought NOS from a place in Ohio.did have to replace the belt,and glue the "1600" handle insert onto the handle.Otherwise pretty neat vacuum.Would prefer the METAL fan,though.Since these don't have Mini or Sani Emptors-think the performance is BETTER.Mine came in the orig plain box.

Back in the mid 1980s, our local "Music World" store at our local mall had one of these 1600 Com Vacs. They had thick plush green carpet from wall to wall, and one of the employees was always vacuuming seems like. They always kept the machine plugged in, at the back of the store.
I remember being facinated by how simular, but yet how different it was from the Heritage model that was out at the time.
I wonder now if ALL of the Music World stores across the country in malls and such, all had these ComVacs.
Were they only avalible thru the local Kirby office/dealer?
I wonder about the disposible bags too.
Have never seen any for sale, or even any reference to them.

From what I have read/heard is that the disposable bags used for them was the Eureka F&G style disposable bag. At the time it was not equiped with a top fill hose or tube like the domestic Kirby has or like the type A fill tube for the Hoover convertables.
I did see commercial Kirby badged as a Janitronic when I was in high school (early 80's). That one had an 18" cleaning head and had been fitted with the sani emptor and shake out bag. It was painted in the surrocco tan color and was of the 500 series/sanitronic body style.

Oh Wow I love the 1300, I love the matt finish , were they painted or was is cast that way, Does Kirby still make commercial models ?

It was a short run on the commercial version. Depending on who the machine was branded to depended on if it was polished metal or painted. The only thing they were good for was floors. And no easer to push or pull than the domestic models.

From the brochure, the COMVAC 1300 is pictured with the pre-1973 style toe-touch height adjuster control (part #131669, with ratchet lock #133069), since the part of the control (from brochure) that lowers the mechanism looks the same as it had for the Classic 1CR series and back, whereas yours has the version used since the Classic Omega 1CB (part #131673, with ratchet lock #133073).
