I've just caught your video on cleaning the thing. Messy messy messy!! When you bang it, you're going to get COVERED in dust and bacteria and you have to do that each time you use it, which is a ball ache. Again, this is something I would expect to pay £40-£80 for, not £1,500 PLUS $99.00 for the conversion unit. I'll give Mr. Dyson his credit - he got his cyclonic system spot on!

And I think frantically yelling (as implied by your annoying OVER USE OF CAPITALS) at poor Jack that his "NUMBERS MEAN NOTHING" gives HIM the right to insult your product equally.

If a person doesn't want to clean the unit after each use, I would strongly advise them not to get one. The people who have bought the units don't seem to mind the cleaning of the jar and filter. In fact I think that is the best part, seeing how much it picks up, you would have to see it to believe it. I guess my price is just right according to you. You suggest a worth of 40 to 80 , it cost $89.00. I don't think I am responsible for what a person pays for their Kirby. I do want to say that I did not realize you were a teenager. I am not in the habit of sparing with someone as young as you. When I ask what you had done in life so far I did not realize you were only 18 or so, I have 5 children and 15 grandchildren, some of which are older than you. Again I'm sorry I did not mean to offend you. Looks like you have a fine vacuum collection,I'm sure you are a fine young man. Jim Keeler

"The dirt is going to move towards the filter" so you are admitting that it IS going to clog and lose suction? Surely the idea would keep the dirt away from the filter as long as possible?

Oh goody! My allergies would absolutely LOVE to touch and bang out the filter!

Why can't I just pay attention to it every 6 months? Oh... Wait... Low efficiency cyclone.

The unit will NOT have full power every time! The average home user can't clean a Dyson filter yet alone performing all that filter maintenance EVERY TIME

It sure is very very... something... Simple is not the word

It also is "a little different to anything I have seen"... So grateful that it is nothing like my Dysons.

I guess that you have made your point, all bagless vacuum dirt cups look alike. What do you think a dirt cup should look like? I thought of making it out of aluminum but it would weigh more and you would not be able to see the dirt. Help me out here. What should it look like? Jim

Surely you can grasp the concept that a bagged machine, bagless machine & (certain) "cyclonic" machines will lose suction because of the clogged bags/filters?

Looking at the video, it appears that the air duct into the cyclonic chamber is centred, rather than tangentially offset like any other manufacturer's cyclonic chamber. I doubt that it even has cyclonic action. On this basis, I would imagine that cyclonic separation efficiency would be next to useless, since the airflow would be split into two opposing paths which would clash. The dirt and dust would very quickly coat the pleated filter. Constantly having to clean the filter will become tedious, offering no advantage over a bag.

The awkward shape is likely to come into contact with furniture.

Conclusion: a basic bagless design, that has no inventive steps and thus nothing of merit.

I'm confused....

My, but some people are certainly getting riled up over this thread, aren't they? And, far too personal in some of the comments made here - some things are best left to individual emails.

However, my confusion deals with the dirt catching action of the Kirby vacuum and how this invention works. I've gone and looked at my two Kirby's and both push the dirt into the bag rather than suck the dirt into the bag. Now, if the dirt is pushed into this cannister, why does it matter if it's cyclonic or not? As far as the filter, I'm quite sure it will clog with use but that's to be accepted just as bags will clog in use. If the purchaser chooses not to clean the filter, they will have less performance. My assumption is that this cannister is useful in eventually costing less than bags and, if emptied after each use and filter cleaned, will give the user like new performance each time. Am I wrong?

re: Rolls rapide some of what you said about no cyclonic action is right on. That seems to be why it works so good. Go figure. If you will go to my e-bay feedbacks you will see over 118 positive feedback's, that's 100%. No one that has used one of my units has said that it does not work. So I guess if all the people who own one say it works, maybe we could assume that it works for what ever reason. It just doesn't matter why you gentleman think it doesn't work, it does. Simply because dirty fan, non-cyclonic bagless has been done before: (UK Hoover Turbomaster & Turbopower 'Freedom'; USA Hoover bagless, etc).

"Prior art" and all that.

re: verorodger Nice to meet you Rodger. You are right on. It's so simple. You are the first person to grasp the reality of the bagless conversion. I have never mentioned anything about getting a patient, prior art and all of that. I prefer to get patient pending on this type of item as it affords a better type of protection. Thats another matter entirely. That is not relevant to weather it works or not. Rodger did you see my you tube video? Did you see my customers feedback's in e-bay? 118 people have said that it works.
