I think it's utterly impractical and absolutely fabulous!

It's been on ebay for a long time and never got a bid.  I would have bid on it when I first saw it but they weren't willing to ship overseas.   Now I see that overseas shipping might be possible, and someone has bid on it!  Maybe one of our UK members?

Actually ......

These Tablevacs turn up surprisingly often, I would say i have seen as many tablevacs in the last 10 years of ebaying as I have of all other Bylock models put together. A quick check through the archive should throw up Jack Copp's excellent analysis of this cleaner, he has a very good example himself. Personally I find them rather ugly, I wonder if that is why I have not bought one as Bylock is a brand of particular interest to me.

Jack has the original invoice for his and it shows (from memory) a cost of just under £15.00. Even back then (around 1964) this was very cheap for the most basic of cleaners, never mind one with matched wood veneers, and I believe most would have been sold at discounted rates when Bylock (or more correctly their parent company Rolls Razor) went bust. I suspect that most were only used for a short time before being shoved away in the back of a cupboard as the design is not very practical. On most of these cleaners I have seen the hose, tools & wands show only very light use.

They must have been developed and promoted for small one-room flats with precious little cupboard space.  I can't imagine dragging around a table to clean a larger home, and a home with stairs would be a ridiculous proposition!
